I've been depressed the last 5 or so hours. But I have to admit we gave too much space to Aguero.

Aguero doesn't need to be given space, he creates it for himself.

Good Champions should go down swinging, which City did.

Reus's back heel pass leading to Dortmund's equalizer was lovely.

Wow that final minute to the Dortmund game, unbelievable. I've seen it with my own eyes but I can't believe that happened.

    edit: lol @ Real Madrid

Incredible finish for Dortmund. Simply stunning.

Also, I really liked their Tifo today:

Neither Dortmund or Madrid had particularly convincing results but they got through and that is what matters.

Incredible finished. I had actually given up turned it off after the second Malaga goal, switched back just as Reus scored to level.

Which one? Two last night, plus Ibra and Müller last week.

    Much GIF goodness from 101GG:

    The pre-match choreography:

    The second Malaga goal (offside)

And the Santana winner, which doesn't show his offside position a second or two earlier

All in all, i think Dortmund deserved to advance as the better side over two legs. But still have to feel for Malaga, they executed their game plan perfectly last night.

Both the final Malaga and Dortmund goal were offside, there was also Dortmund player who should have gotten sent off with a second yellow. I admit I started to root for Malaga (underdogs ftw) even though they were hopelessly ineffective under Dortmund's pressure for a good portion of the match.

I have to say Ronaldo did the back heel pass better than Reus yesterday although Di Maria forgot to score. :p

Thing is, it's hard to sympathize with Malaga as an underdog when you realize their owned by a sheikh who decided to stop paying his bills. And is now shouting racism all over twitter. Much of my sympathy for Pellegrini is gone, too, given his rant about the ref.

On the missed sending off, I assume you mean Schmelzer bundling into Gamez? Schmelzer was certainly lucky to have stayed in the match, though I thought much of that was play acting on Gamez's part, which lead to the ref booking him.

You only say that because you've never been to Málaga.

IIRC, Málaga is in the south, so that your Catalonian sensibilities should want to shove them into the sea.

Are you sure about that? :p I could swear you're from somewhere up near Zarazoga or Pamplona.[face_dunno]

Which, I have now come to realize are not in Catalonia thanks to the wonder of google maps. Geography fail for me.

Zaragoza is in Aragon (not to be confused with Aragorn a fictional character from Lord of the Rings saga) Kingdom of Aragon used to own Catalonia. Pamplona is in Navarre, which is Basque territory.
    True.

Still not sure what to make of your Málaga comment, though. I'd assume it must be a pretty nice place to be being on the Sea.

It is, and the genuine love they feel for Malaga FC is amazing and an example I'd like to see in my hometown.

Thanks for the enlightenment. See, I tend to lump Malaga, Zarazoga and several other Spanish clubs into the the mass of second rate sides I somehow manage to lose to playing as Barcelona in FIFA13 on the hardest level. Thanks goodness the iPhone allows you to close out of an app and replay the match. :p

Sorry to double-post, but can someone explain what thepoint is of the goal line refs. I don't think I've ever seen one actually contribute anyything to a match, and both offside goals should have been clear to them last night.

They consult with the referee over microphone. It's not their job to make decisions, that's up to the ref.

Soemthing to consider about the away goals rule: if the Dortmund match last night had ended 2-2, Dortmund would have been eliminated despite not losing a single match in the entire competition.

Going out without losing is not uncommon, away goals or not
