I have wondered about this upon reading the latest Dawn Of The Jedi comic, how the Rakata with the aid of their Kwa benefactors were able to become very advanced and build ships that were powered by force sensitive slaves, had hyperdrives that zeroed in on planets strong in the force and managed to do many great things using the Dark Side of the force.

While the Sith Lords and Jedi only remained marginally powerful by comparison and never were able to come close to this or duplicate what the Rakatans did, surely Palpatine and Darth Krayt and the others must have been aware of the powers that the Rakata and their Infinite Empire had, but no Sith Lord's ever achieved this technology or used Force Hounds at all, Palpatine had he learned how to do these things could have conquered the entire galaxy and been the greatest Dark Lord of the Sith ever.

Of course the Rakata had access to Kwa technology and secrets, were united for over 10,000 years in their lust for war and conquest and worked together to accomplish great things using the Dark Side, i also wonder what the Rakata would have done if they had managed to capture an Infinity Gate? Could they have opened the door to planets in other galaxies with it?

The Rakata using that would be dangerous, they make the Sith Lords and Yuuzhan Vong look weak by comparison.

Who said the Sith aren't advanced? Many of their superweapons are very impressive as well.

From what we see, the Old Sith Empire are very good as mainly Force Driven technology. Sith Emperor's Empire have many stuff of Force combined with technology, Palpatine's Empire's devices are pure mechanical.

Because the Rakata are actually cool villains who don't coast off established Star Wars tropes and one-note archetypes.

Don't overestimate the Rakata - they were extremely powerful in their time, yes, but the civilization they ruled was much, much smaller than the Human-dominated civilization that came to succeed them. The original estimate for the Infinite Empire is 500 worlds. Information in TOR (such as the Rakata/Esh-Kha War) suggests it might have been a bit larger, thousands maybe.

The Old Republic, and the Galactic Empire, contain millions of planets. We're talking about orders of magnitude difference here.

Rakata power, being based in the Force, may look extremely impressive, but it seems to have suffered from fundamental limits of scale - notably, there are only so many Force users to go around. When the tried to break past those limits, via the Star Forge, it destroyed them.

The Empire also has the Sun Razer, it works similar to the Star Forge.

Because Palps was hiding the fact that the Sith rule his Empire.

Are the Rakata really more advanced? They're different, using Force-based technologies, but don't really seem more advanced...

Wait, what? The Infinity Empire was a few thousand thrown together worlds that the Rakatans apprently spent ages in conquering. A few years after its collapse the Tionese and Hutts had already build bigger Empires than the whole Infinty Empire just using guts, smarts and some salvaged tech.
No, they improved on it. Hyperdrives for everyone, powerful energy sources, Hand Blasters etc. Also the Starforge is really only marginally more useful than several industrial worlds. It actually only proved so insanely useful to Revan because he disposable force users to fuel it, impressive amounts of volunteers to man the ships it build and had already thrown the Republic into political chaos and infighting.
They organized whole armies of disposable force sensitive minions over the years.
    Äh he did

    He pretty much was.

Doubtful, though Otherspace might have worked, though that might have caused more problems than uses.
No, they just have a different approach to things.

Yeah, what? A lot of the Rakatan tech seems primitive.

Regular tech > Force driven tech

Force hounds? What's so special about them?

The Star Forge was cool, but I'd rather have non-Force using equivalents like a World Devastator or a Sun Razer.

Because the Rakata had advanced technology and could go to planets full of people unable to resist. It was 20,000 years earlier the galaxy was just starting to form a community.

Everyone it he galaxy is pretty equal, even though the Republic fell, the Empire didn't really win either, the people resisted, they could, and did. But a non space faring people couldn't fight the Rakata off. Thanks to the Rakatans' interference and meddling, none of those tribal people are left. They all have the same footing. Seems like the most dangerous weapons they have are older ones.
