Discussion Should one of the sequels copy AOTC...

and pan up instead of down after the opening crawl?

I think one of them should. Probably Episode VIII for symmetry's sake

 

Heh. I've always loved that AOTC begins with a tilt up followed by the central ship rotating down-side-up as it enters planet atmo. It's a brilliant shot, followed by the ship's slow descent through foggy clouds -- just like the plot of the movie itself -- before it comes in for a landing and... EXPLODES!

Just like the plot of the movie itself.

Yeah, I'd love to see Abrams give us a new version of that.

 

If J.J is directing it will most probably begin just like ROTS. Get your sunnies out gents.

 

I would love to see it go left for once but thats just me.

 

I would like a fast zoom.

 

I suspect Episode VII will start traditionally, with the pan down, possibly to a badly damaged Star Destroyer floating through space (a ghost ship, if you will.)

But for the next two episodes, I think anything goes. I could see them skipping the pan entirely, and just having a ship zoom overhead as soon as the text is off-screen.

 

Pan down. AotC is the only pan up and it is the only SW movie not to win the box office the year it came out.

 

I like the idea of simply just changing it from always panning down.

 

As long as this is the ONLY way it mimics AOTC - then I'm okay with it.

Shaky cam will be used for the opening crawl so it'll be next to impossible for the audience to read it.

 

I'm thinking they skip the crawl and maybe have Jay Z do a Hip Hop rap of what's been going on in the galaxy for the past 30 years....

 

I'd like it and I also one at least one of the sequels to have that mystery feeling AOTC has to it.

 

Speaking of which, I thought it was brilliant how you knew that Palps = Sidious throughout the PT without being told.

 

After the opening crawl I want Superman and the Green Lantern to chase after it going "After that crawl!"

 

Like a certain male model, the opening sequence cannot turn left.
