The Message:

We are hoping to celebrate the worldwide community of Star Wars fans in a special way this year, on SW.com, with your pictures, taken by your local and area landmarks. I'm sending you this email because I believe you are creative and might have great ideas for pictures. Some of you have blogs and websites you can post this request on and share it with your clubs and friends, and we'd love it if you would.​

All of your pictures need to come with the attached form, signed by you. You can use one form for multiple pictures, but you need to list all the pictures on the form.​

Here's the easy list:​

1. Share this email with your Star Wars friends.​
2. Take pictures in your Star Wars costumes with your local landmarks.​
3. Turn in the pictures with a signed copy of this form (email or fax) to fanevents@starwars.com, or 1-415-623-1107 (FAX: Attn: Mary Franklin).​
4. You can start turning them in at any time. The sooner the better!​
5. The deadline is April 22nd to turn in pictures. But we'll start putting them up soon after we get them​
6. Be sure to name the landmark, and area/city/country.​
7. Have Fun, and May the 4th Be With You!​

 

Sounds like fun....should we do some group "field trips" to a few places around town?

Key landmarks for San Diego:
- the beach (maybe Crystal Pier in PB or Belmont park)
- San Diego Zoo / Balboa Park (Museum of Man bell tower)
- Old Town
- Sea World
- downtown: Star of India / USS Midway / County Admin building / Convention Center

 

Star of India / USS Midway / County Admin building / Convention Center and balboa park seems like the best spots. And gives us plenty of opportunities for multiple landmarks. I'm swamped with answering calls this week. Maybe we can go early next week. We need to figure out the date and time, I'll make a fb event on our page, see who can make it - I have no SW costume, but have plenty of SW shirts and a non-cannon Indy costume

 

Do we have to be in these pictures? If so, count me out.

 

I just checked with Mary and she says that Star Wars apparel is just fine!

How about we pose with a banner reading, "Save Star Wars: The Clone Wars?"

We could wear t-shirts reading "FREE DAVE FILONI" or bearing this LucasArts 1982-2013 image.

 

i can design a banner, who wants to print it out?

 

while banners might be cool to send a message, chances are that photos with banners might not be quite what they are looking for with this venture.

 

How about we go next Saturday, the 13th, for a trip to the downtown and possibly balboa park areas? (maybe bring the banner from Comic-Con?)

The plan is to meet up at the USS Midway Museum around 11 am, this Saturday, April 13th in our Star Wars gear and take in as many local landmarks as we can. Maybe even go to some Balboa Park and downtown areas.

Not gonna make it. Gonna be at Disneyland. Last day for AP Early Entry for DCA and they're doing some kind of Stark Expo thing though that runs through May I think.
