I'm trying to rush through Poul Anderson's 'Trader to the Stars' as it's not much fun. It's blessedly short.

If I didn't have to read them again I would be so happy but I decided to do a DNT/LOTF/FOTJ readthrough so read them I must.

    A Storm Of Swords.

So happy I can finally get back to Game of Thrones (it's just easier to say it that way).

Mine too. It's when things really get dark.

As well as "The Mystery Woman," I'm reading Life After Life by Jill McCorkle.

Sorry, I forgot to respond to this. I thought it was really clever, enjoyed the first half of it quite a bit, but the second half dragged a little. Still, the ending was great. Overall, I liked it a lot. Am planning on reading Invisible Cities at some point.

Read The Lady in the Lake by Raymond Chandler since then. Was fantastic, as usual.

Ah. I've been considering that, since I don't remember much and would like to get back into the EU ... but I did't like any of those books, so ... :p

Don't blame you. I hate the way things went after the NJO. LOTF had some good books but a series as a whole? No. DNT is just bad. The Killiks freak me out badly. No opinion on FOTJ just yet. Only read each book just once. Stay with the Bantam books, the Prequel era, the Sith era or the NJO books.

Eeeeh hard to say. They go into the Lateran Pact( a concordant with Fascist Italy) a little bit but far more time is spent dealing with Pius XII pre-papal dealings with the Weimar Republic and Nazi Germany which result in the Reichskonkordat ( a treaty between the Holy See and Hitler). The author suggests that some in the Catholic Church thought that fascism was a preferable system to democracy as the authoritarian nature would stomp out communism and forcefully make sure deals with the Church were met.
