I agree. I'd find it hard to watch a Who episode with Miranda Hart in it - I can't stand her. Kryten might be interesting though.

Forget about TV shows, what about companions from video games? I'll start:



SHE'D BE AWESOME! (And wouldn't fall in love with the Doctor, either)

 

The Dowager Countess of Grantham. The Doctor is a young man now, he'd do all the running - the Dowager would sit in a comfy armchair in the TARDIS, drink tea, and solve problems with witty remarks and clever manipulation.

I still would want to see Eddie Izzard as a companion. It would be interesting to say the least.

 

I'd take Eddie Izzard as the Doctor.

 

I'd prefer to see him as a fellow Time Lord. An original character. That way he could really be himself on screen. A really memorable, outrageous one-off performance.

When we get announcements of more Doctors than Tennant appearing (so long as the actors are still alive), I'm sure there will be more discussion. That and when the next episodes comes on.

The Two Doctors has been done already.

And we stand by it. Hart at least has been in Call the Midwife so we know she can do something other than her comedy shtick


Kryten & Hiro Nakamura are the only ones on that list I think would work OK.

Actually I thought Tate would be a disaster, but I ended up loving Donna.

I despise her "comedy", but Tate can act well. I thought she was exceptional in Scenes Of A Sexual Nature.

 

I think Kaylee from Firefly would make a great companion.
