I wonder if Peter Jackson will **** with the timeline some more so we can have Aragorn slay Smaug.

Finished The Silmarillion. During this read I couldn't not be amused by Círdan. While everyone else fights Morgoth and Sauron and each other, vow to do silly things, have issues with their relatives and lovers and just generally mess their lives, he just chills in various havens. His name is mentioned a lot, starting from chapter 5 of Quenta and continuing to the last page of The Third Age, but it's always "Círdan was the leader of the elves of X havens". Never "Círdan fought X" or "Círdan wanted X". And guess what? He's the only elf who woke up when the stars were lit and is still alive in the Middle-Earth at the end of the Third Age. When he is given a Ring of Power, he just gives it to a guy in bathrobe who happens to row into his havens.

And I finally figured out what his beard must look like:

 

Jeff Bridges in LOTR would be a wonderful thing.

 

Great. Now every time I read the name "Círdan", I'm going to picture Jeff Bridges.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...
