I don't know if it really counts as heroic maybe more redeeming bt Borsk's death in SBS was pretty awesome. Though I think Ganner and Anakin's deaths are at the top of most heroic.

By saving Anakin, Chewie saved Han as well. I think Chewie knew that Han wouldn't leave so save Anakin so he gets everyone out of there.

Obi-Wan Kenobi, who sacrificed his life for two reasons (IMHO) 1. Luke and 2. Anakin (to teach him a lesson about the Force)

There were a lot, how about Obi-wan? He just gave himsefl over so Luke and Leia could flee.

    Ganner, and many many others.

Anakin, Elegos, Beru and Owen. The Ewoks? It is heroic to fight an enemy so daunting. The guys on Hoth that flew agaisnt walkers...

Anakin Solo. He sacrificed his life, literally fighting until he died, so that the strike team could complete their mission and take out the voxyn queen. If they would have failed, the Jedi Order wouldn't have survived, because the voxyn were owning the Jedi. Anakin literally saved the Jedi Order.

Thank you all for your answers. Now I'll have to read about Ganner and some of these others. A lot of good points too.

I think it's the plant master who beat Exar Kun on Ossus.

Vergere's was pretty heroic... sacrificing herself so that Jacen, Jaina and the others would live.

It's a toss up between Obi-Wan, Ganner, and Chewbacca for me.

    Perhaps.

But it was also poorly set up and incredibly frustrating.

Stover does something beautiful with her and they kill her off in the next book. *** dammit what a waste, she had so much potential as a recurring trickster.

DW is like super popular but I did not like it at all when it first came out. Everyone seemed out of character, or at least felt like their voices were off somehow. Especially Jacen and Vergere, because we'd just spent an entire book getting almost nothing but their voices. I have to admit that the Ackbar parts were good, though, so I don't get crucified.

There's nothing quite as heroic as turning yourself into a tree.

And that's still approximately 200x cooler than it was in Tales of the Jedi.

While his death itself wasn't incredibly heroic, Ton Phanan's death probably moved me the most of any in the EU.

Viqi Shesh. If she hadn't killed herself, we'd have had to put up with her for several more books. She saved us from that.

    Never forget.

Captain Lorth Needa of the ISD Avenger.

He took full responsibility for a bad screwup, losing the ship with Vader's son on it that Vader was desperate to catch. He took full responsibility and traveled to meet Vader face to face and apologize to him in person.

He knew Vader would kill him, but he took responsibility and went to face him anyway, to protect his men.

His is the true measure of a hero, and one who makes Vader even more of a miserable wretch.

This. After everything Needa does to show that he is loyal and courageous and can take full responsibility (of something that I don't think counts as a same kind of mistake Ozzell did... and how many times did Ozzell blunder?), Vader still kills him. What was he trying to prove?
