Vodka + shisha = memory loss.
And anakinfansince1983 -- despite being Australian, I can't stand beer nor cider. No Strongbow for me!
Also, guys, guys, guys: I saw Judi Dench and Ben Whishaw's latest play earlier this week (thank you, cheap return tickets), and it was absolutely awesome!

When is that day gonna arrive when all laptops, iphones, ipods, etc are holograms? Just wave your hands around and stuff happens.

Screw google glasses -- we'll all have lenses in our eyes.

Oh man, this gets my nerd senses tingling. Famed physicist and futurist Michio Kaku believes that we should be able to have Internet lenses and/or glasses by 2030, complete with everything you'll need on the go, like a built-in GPS. Even our standard, ubiquitous cellphones may become obsolete in due time. Miniaturization will keep happening until Moore's Law ends. 2015 might be a bit too optimistic, though.

Now, where did I put that blasted omni-tool?

I'm also a big fan of the idea behind micro/nano-materials that can form and reform into different objects (tables, chairs, beds, cars, you name it) on command. Sort of like the Jetsons's car-in-a-suitcase.

Somebody please invent that in my lifetime.

And without a touch screen your just screwed...

I guess at this point it wouldn't matter to put something with GPS capability in my eye given all the tracking data probably already available on me.

Ah, another topic of great interest to me. Micro- and nanotechnology are the wave of the future for manufacturing and design. I believe what you're describing is known as "programmable matter", material which can be transformed into any physical shape or structure at the will of the user. IIRC, enterprising Intel scientists are working on a primitive precursor to this technology. I won't go into the details here, but you can read about it. If or when this technology comes to fruition, one can only imagine the possibilities that a device made of programmable matter can do for society. This technology will most likely be realized sometime in the middle of the century, after 2050. So I imagine that it will be created well within your lifetime, especially considering the advances in medicine that will allow human lifespan to continue increasing every few years.

But the real Holy Grail of nanotechnology would be the creation of a molecular assembler, a so-called "replicator", containing nanobots which can can manufacture practically anything using basic raw materials. That kind of technology can truly advance our civilization to the point of familiarity with the many sci-fi universes we know and love.* It's most likely about a century away in terms of technology, however.

*In fact, the omni-tool from Mass Effect that I mentioned earlier contains such a mini-facturing assembler to create new materials, typically for combat purposes.

It's funny, we were talking about the Google glasses in one of my psych classes, when my professor compared them to something similar from the comic Transmetropolitan. And now you, Circular Logic, mention replicators, or assemblers, another future technology from the same comic. It's a little freaky how accurate some things from that comic were, especially regarding the internet and the evolution of telemarketing.

For those who are interested, Transmetropolitan is a comic that basically fuses Hunter S. Thompson and Futurama. It's pretty awesome.

I just saw Scary Movie 5... It was the most random movie I've ever seen, lol. Me and my mates were like "Wtf!?" the whole way through, but it was really funny. I was already in tears during the first scene, because it was seriously one of the funniest things I've seen in a while, lol. So if you want to see vacuums having a pool party while getting drunk and a chair and microwave making love, then go and watch it!

Even though TCW is dead and my interest is even deader, I still find myself watching Eminence from time to time. Best episode ever.

I mostly re-watch the good Anakin/Obi-Wan episodes when I want to re-watch something. Especially the ones with Ventress. "Come and get me, boys." YES.

I'm still doing my run through season 4, slowly.

I watched about eight episodes of The Big Bang Theory last night instead. I decided I'd rather laugh my ass off than indulge in Mad Skillz Snips irritation.

I just read that in Ventress's voice while thinking of the Moulin Rouge diamonds song. The scene is RUINED for me now.

    GAAAHHH!

*won't think of that song, haven't listened to that soundtrack in ages, only own it because Ewan McGregor sings--did I mention that Ewan McGregor sings?*

    Another scene from TCW movie:

    "Anakin, what's your location?"
    "Ventress."

    [face_mischief][face_dancing]

That scene never gets old for me.
