On a completely unrelated note, that incredibly awkward moment where you realize the most efficient way to do an advanced math problem is guess and check. I just had one. And not because I thought it would work, but just because I wanted to try to avoid the "sure thing" route which requires a complicated algorithm. I have succeeded through my own goddamn laziness.

As I understood it, a lot of modern physical theory has come from guesses that turned out to be right, so you're in good company

 

Eh, it's just there's a difference between the proper math research "I think this is might be (Judgement call), let's try to prove that from known theorems!" and "I'm working on a test and I don't want to do this the way that will work, let's try it eighth grade style." I mean, I think the goal was for it to be a trap that you could get out of fairly easily but, still, that doesn't often occur on exams. Ultimately, all I care about is that I didn't have to use the algorithm from hell.

I'm just saying we should diversify our portfolio a little. Maybe pick up a few shares in start-ups and hope we don't get diluted out.
