When you read it, or when it was read to you?

He may have been a child genius. But if so it's worn off, judging by his posts.

I'm sorry I'm still trying to get over the point that you were 4 in 1997. [face_plain]

Reading at a young age? Absolutely, I was also reading when I was 4. But I was reading at that reading level. Harry Potter is too much for any kid of that age, and I call BS on you having read it then. And even if you did, I'm betting you didn't understand about 90% of the book; that's just not feasible. I was about 7 when it came out, and I still had it read to me. I don't think I read it myself until I was about 8 or 9, when I could actually handle a book that long on my own.

I'm an elementary school librarian and I've never met a 4-year-old who could read that level. Kindergarteners who could read Magic Treehouse, Bailey School Kids or Junie B. Jones (2nd to 3rd grade level books) are the highest level readers that age that I've encountered.

Well, every kid is different, my parents taught me to read at age 4 and the first Harry Potter book was one of them

I compared 2 Dumbledore again, Harris still is the significantly better one.

I was 20 years old when I first read 'Philosopher's Stone'. I understood all the words and read it all by myself.

The fact that they also accurately built a whole bunch of rooms within the set recreating scenes from the books/films is icing on the cake. It's an incredible piece of work.

So all around the locker room area there are motivational posters of Dumbledore with the line from the original movie that goes "it takes a lot of courage to stand up to your friends".

On the poster though, it's the Michael Gambon Dumbledore when Richard Harris clearly said that line.

My latest read-through has taken me to the end of The Prisoner of Azkaban. That book and The Goblet of Fire are still my favorites (so many reads of them while waiting for the next one). And the climax is just great. Almost three chapters of just talking and they are some of Rowling's best writing.

The wheels within wheels plots and twists of POA are amazing. I like how we get to see James's friends and the history of the Marauder's. I like GOF for the epicness of it. Sure the whole plot was contrived but we expand the Wizarding World a great deal. Priori Incantatem is the best chapter of the whole series imo.

I love those chapters in POA. My copy is horribly bent out of shape in that area from the number of time I've read it :p
