Lit So wizard! Omnibus: Wild Space Volume 2

Really? From everything I've heard, the whole purpose of the Omnibus program was to collect everything. Where did you hear about this stuff they don't plan on republishing? (The only comic I know of is the Prelude to Rebellion webcomic because the file is corrupted.)

 

Yeah, I'm talking about Republic 0 and the MyComyc stuff. Those they said they won't reprint unless the original licensing papers are ever found, even though it certainly looks like it got the rights to do so. Other than those, I can't recall any other instances where they denied that they would reprint something.

 

Would it really be that difficult for them to nab these JPEGs and print them, with an apologetic editor's note if the quality ends up not being that great?

 

Ah, only those two then. Yeah, it'd be nice to get the MyComyc stuff, but if they don't have the license, I understand. Hopefully in time, though.

 

Though I will definitely get this 2nd "Wild Space" Omnibus & am glad it's being announced (even before Volume 1 is released), I am quite dissapointed that the material being reprinted seems to be primarily from the '90's & also Prequel-era material.

Even after the first Wild Space Omni is published, it looks like there will still be some old-skool ('70's/'80's) comics/material out there that still won't been reprinted, i.e. some of the more obscure comics like The Kashyyyk Depths strip by Russ Manning, Planet of Kadril, etc. Here are some links:

If this material isn't published in these "Wild Space" omnis, where will it be published?! Hopefully there will be a third Volume in the series.

 

Randy promised newspaper strip Omnibuses two years ago. I'm sure they are on the way, but they will be their own subtitle. There's the Russ Manning strips, Goodwin/Williams and some others, and if they include webstrips in the same series it will be enough for about three books.

 

So. With 27 omnibuses out, three more upcoming, most likely two more potential KOTOR volumes in the near future, plus TTT, DET, CES, and the Legacy HC's, it seems a good chunk of stuff has been omnibussed.

Did I just miss it, or are the TCW mag comics not listed there? As well as all of the Lego comics? And there are several more photocomics than those listed.

 

I couldn't find Wookieepedia pages for any of those so I just waited for you to show up and mention them.

 

What other Photocomics are there? And yeah, there's a ton of LEGO Star Wars comics out there, never have been able to compile a full list. But there's the stuff on the LEGO website, the stuff they've published in their magazine, the stuff packed in with some of the toys and some that are published in digest form.

Since wild speculation is what we're all about, let's muse on potential future Omnibi.

I've always figured that they're waiting a few years for Jedi Vs. Sith so they can pack it with Knight Errant in a "New Sith Wars" omnibus.

Leviathan, Union, and Chewbacca could go together in a "New Republic" omnibus, but at only twelve issues it'd be pretty slim. Anything else they could stick in there?

heh, wish I knew what Bane vs... Bane? was about. I don't personally have a copy, but it was published in The Clone Wars UK 6.45, the May issue and is likely going to be published in the Clone Wars Magazine 18 in June or whenever.

if the DH license expires by the end of 2014, it doesn't seem possible for them to put out enough omnibuses to complete their published materials.

Unless, if they are still allowed to republish old material in new formats, or if they cram out omnibuses like crazy.

Well, I'd definitely see them put Jedi vs. Sith in with Knight Errant in an Omnibus. And combining the New Republic stories with Invasion could work. Dark Times is self-explanatory, and I like the idea of the Darth Vader and Purge stories getting their own collection.

Hmm. I'm kind of disappointed in this latest Wild Space collection. I thought it would make a lot more sense to split up the Tales stories into canon or ambiguous canon, and then keep the comedic ones together with Tag and Bink and Sergio for a comedy-themed omnibus. I had hoped originally they could take the non-canon stories from Tales and put them in with some of Visionaires and the Infinities Trilogy to have a more robust Infinities Omnibus, but they didn't do that.

I don't expect to see LEGO, manga, photonovel or digest stories collected, but hopefully I'll be proven wrong. What I would like to see is a webcomics omnibus or two. I could maybe see a TCW omnibus or two collecting the webcomics, series, Darth Maul story, and UK comics.
