I'm not crazy about Sandra Bullock's involvement, but hey it's Alfonso Cuaron doing sci-fi, so I'm definitely seeing it.

Been looking forward to this for a while. Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, although

I take it from hints about the production that Clooney's character bites it in the first act

It has my attention, but it is all vague teaser attention.

This is not the same official teaser trailer as the one posted above? Looks very good.

me too. I've known for 18 months what the movie was about, but the accident sequence itself - did not imagine it looking anything like that. But what's the deal with the space shuttle "Explorer"? Is that not the shuttle? Some kind of imagined replacement shuttle?

    ?

Yeah I've seen the Explorer replica. Doesn't explain why the trailer shuttle is named "Explorer" or whether it actually is a supposed to be the shuttle. I'd hate to think the movie is set in some kind of alternative past when the international space station was being built.

I would take it more as a nod or easter egg. No biggy.

Probably just a result of the film being in development before the shuttle program was permanently shelved.

The sort of film I'd prefer to see featuring two lesser known actors.

good point. Gravity began filming one month before the last shuttle flight, not that there was any mystery about the program coming to an end. Probably didn't expect the film wouldn't be released until late 2013. Nevertheless: a bit late for a movie about a fictional shuttle disaster.

Well it began filming then, but it had been in development for many years before that, so I don't think Cuaron was about to let that go so easily. Apparently it's quite the passion project for him.

Saw the IMAX trailer (with just the camera on Bullock and her POV, no Clooney or explosions) and- WOW. Can't wait for this one now. Definitely making the trip out to see it in IMAX.

Also James Cameron gave it high praise:

"I was stunned, absolutely floored," he tells Variety. "I think it's the best space photography ever done, I think it's the best space film ever done, and it's the movie I've been hungry to see for an awful long time."

Saw the trailer when I saw The Worlds End at the local cinema. I'll wait for reviews but if they are good I'll probably go see it.
