CT Will you see ANH in the same cinema as in 1977?

I haven't seen ANH in a cinema, the 3D re-release will be the first time for me.

Unfortunately I never got to see any of the Original Trilogy in the theaters. The first film I saw was Return of the Jedi with my dad on DVD. After i saw it I was hooked and have loved Star Wars since that day. I would love to see the film in the theater if I had the chance.

As with a lot of other folks here, I have to say that the theater in which I saw STAR WARS (and EMPIRE STRIKES BACK) is long gone, as is the (different) theater where I saw ROTJ. So for us, it will be the theater where we saw the Prequels!

I wasn't around in 1977, either. I would love to go back to the same one I saw the '97 Special Editions in (that was my introduction to Star Wars), but it's halfway across the country, so probably not.

Sadly no, as I was on holiday in Miami when ANH was released and saw it there, I wouldn't know if the cinema was still around. Even the cinema that I saw it again in when I returned home, incidentally the same cinema I saw TESB, ROTJ, TMP and AOTC on the day each one was released, is now a huge gym/swimming pool complex!! (and the cinema I saw ROTS in is now a nightclub!!!)

Nope, was born 15 years after ANH hit theaters. I first saw ANH on home video when I was 7.

I wasn't alive in 1977 and the cinema/move theatre where my brother and sister saw ANH in 1977 is now a different type of theater and no longer shows movies. I DID see the 1997 special edition of ANH and ESB there, though. Aren't the 3D versions moved back a few years due to Episode 7? I would rather see the OT in 3D than any prequels.

I would rather see the original film [GOUT] in 2D - in the cinema - than anything :)

Sadly, Disney has cancelled the 3D re-releases. So we won't even get ROTS in 3D. Much less ANH

The small, 1 screen theatre where I saw Star Wars in 1977 was closed down in the 80s, turned into a nightclub, then reopened recently, doubling as a movie theatre and performing arts centre.

I also saw SW at the local drive-in back in '77, which is still open.

This would be impossible, since I did not see ANH in 1977 at all, and if I had, it would necessarily involve time travel or some such weirdness.

If you put the extra hours into inventing a time machine - I guarantee it'd be worth it.
I'll come along as your guide :D

Incidentally, I didn't realise the 3D movies were cancelled. No great loss in my opinion - except that we may never see ANH in the cinema - in any form - for a long time yet.

That part is not much of a loss. I was gonna skip ANH 3D anyway.

The 3D thing isn't much of an attraction to me. Anyway, the theater I saw Star Wars in in 1977 is no longer in existence, so the answer must be "no" for me either way.

I suppose the fact that it's gone makes the memory that more precious :)

More precious, but also a bit sad that so many things from my childhood, most othe places I used to frequent, are gone or changed so much as to be unrecognizable.

If I win the lottery, I'll buy it. But it's a relic.

Sadly, ANH came out 9 years before I was born. I would love to see the OT in a theatre (although I'm not much for 3D).
