I love how cheated & betrayed that everyone has been acting in response to this film... Wrath of the Conned.

I have to say, if I thought the film had one real mis-step it would be that:
    Spock gets the "KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!" line

In my opinion the JC can't function properly if Europeans get to see the movies I want to see a week before I can see them. Trek is an American franchise, dammit. If brits get to see it first, the terrorists win.

It's time to shut this whole thing down.

Give the other details about the film, I'm not sure if this is a joke.

Having only seen the first film, I found nothing wrong with Quinto's take on Spock. As SithLordDarthRichie mentioned, he does have a clearer emotional conflict in the film, and I think that works for Quinto's version, especially when you take in the destruction of Vulcan and the death of his mother into account. The only time I thought the performance was a little shakey was near the end when the two Spock's meet. I don't know if it was a case of Quinto getting flustered performing with Nimoy or what, but that's the only time where I thought Quinto's performance wasn't up to par.

We'll see if my opinion changes if and when I see this film.

Given that the script was written by a trio of morons, it probably isn't a joke.

When the shoe is on the other foot, suddenly it's a problem. You guys have years of delayed movie releases until I care that we get it in Oz before the US.

It's interesting to compare Nimoy's Spock and Quinto's Spock from a mommy-issues standpoint. Nimoy's character is so matter-of-fact about his rejection of most of the aspects of that half of his heritage. ("Why did you marry her?" "At the time it seemed the logical thing to do." :D ) Quinto's character seems to have a lot more conflict and confusion going on just beneath the surface. I don't know whether it's just because the character is younger or because the actor is trying to portray someone who will be more accessible to his human audience.

Saw it earlier today in 3D at the local cinema. I enjoyed it. Lots of in-jokes and action. Highly recommended!

It's immensely entertaining certainly, looks great in IMAX too despite being a converted 3D movie.

Aside from being a remake I don't see what the issue is with it.

Well-acted, great effects, good story and it looks good in 3D. Not as good as the first one, it is more action-heavy.
Goodness knows where this new series would be without Quinto, he & Cumberbatch rule this movie.

Abrams did this to a series he's not even a fan of, imagine the glory he can bring back to Star Wars which he actually loves.

It's not a remake of Wrath of Khan. It's a rehash/ripoff: taking some themes, lines, characters, concepts, etc. and shoehorning them into an ostensibly original plot. And it's rehashing the same film Nemesis and 2009 Trek did.

    It changed some stuff

like Kirk dying instead of Spock and Carol Marcus not yet having a son who is Kirk's son. Khan is in it with his (frozen) crew of engineered people and he & Kirk have a battle of wits in opposing starships just as before. The main difference is that Khan does not have a personal vendetta against Kirk, just Starfleet in general, and he's not Mexican anymore :p

But I don't see that it is different enough to not be seen as a remake. I hoped Abrams would do something new with this revived series, instead he seems to be going down the same though slightly altered path as before.

Remember Abrams is directing Star Wars, not writing it.

And while I do thing the last movie was the shot in the arm that trek needs, the lack of artistic integrity disturbs me.
