Aww i loved the old cover! But I still am greatly looking forward to the book!

 

Just for the record--the original image, while awesome, was only ever for early promotional purposes and was never suggested or intended to be the actual cover.

CooperTFN is right. I dig the earlier piece, too, but it's clearly sized for a convention Powerpoint slide, which is how it was originally used. (On the other hand, because of that, it's ideally suited for a desktop background.)

Very much appreciating the enthusiasm for this title -- I expect we'll get into some rounds of interviews on the book before too long. I'm also slated for San Diego Comicon, about a month before.

 

Somebody tie a brick to several copies of this book and throw it through Lucasfilm / Kathleen Kendey / Bad Robot / Ewan McGreggor / Joel Edgerton's window!

 

I just might buy and read the Kenobi novel when it comes out at Barnes and Noble. Getting tired of the constant Old Republic novels and piss poor Original Trilogy stuff like Scoundrels and like the 3rd Mara Jade and stormtrooper in betweener novel taking place between New Hope and Empire Strikes Back.

I swear there's like 3 of the Mara Jade and special group of Stormtroopers in betweener novels taking place between New Hope and Empire Strikes Back where Mara does the same thing again and again to track down Luke, Han and Leia.

 

I'm pretty sure there has only been two Mara Jade with Stormtrooper novels JediMasterKeno

 

And she's not tracking down Luke, Han, and Leia, but whatever.

JJM tweeted a link to a version of the cover that didn't make it. It was pretty good, too!

 

I like the alternate Obi-Wan cover that didn't make it.

 

While I still prefer the original drawing, I do find myself liking the alternative cover more, as it's got a more realistic action pose than just an image that looks like it's been staged for the camera.

Though I can see why they probably went with the other way, as the alternative picture probably makes Obi-Wan come across too aggressive maybe.

 

I'm amused that Star Wars novels are popular enough to pay artists to produce multiple pieces of art for a book that's only going to ship with one cover and no interior illustrations. Maybe artists work for beans in these days of deviantArt and every college student with a laptop having Photoshop?

 

I wouldn't say it's as much an aggressive pose as a more dramatic one. I definitely prefer the alternate, but maybe the selected one plays better on a book cover surrounded by text.

 

The alternate doesn't do as good a job of hiding the fact that his sleeves are too short.

The Hutts apparently do, per Tatooine Ghost the Sidi Driss Inn had a Hutt luxury wing including a huge bath for Jabba, Gardulla and presumably other Hutts choosing to stay there.

 

Apparently Gorefiend can't speak for other species. I wonder why.

Amazon currently has the page count at 400 pages. Sounds like a placeholder, go back to your homes, except that normally Star Wars placeholder numbers are 256 pages for some binary language reason. The plot thickens...

 

Maybe he used the TLC approach: get to page 400, just stop.
