I'm sure there's a good pun involving a costume designer's work and the phrase 'under his belt', but I'm tired this morning.

Any veteran of the Blade Runner production crew working on Star Wars is fine by me.

Ugh. Talk about boring [face_plain] Hope he brings some imagination & flair to the SWU 'cause he brought jack-nothing fresh or interesting to ST. Was hoping for Trisha Biggar or Ngila Dickson. Big disappointment. The only movie he did that has anything interesting in it is Blade Runner - and that was mostly 'cause of Scott, imo. Oh well, looks like we're in for a shaky-cam, lens-flare, borderline street-clothes SW [face_phbbbbt]

Honestly, I didn't love Trisha Biggar's approach to the prequels. I thought her designs were either way too "busy" or way too minimalist. The costumes lost the "utility" aspect from the OT. Also, I think her choice of fabrics were a bit too "shiny."

Now, granted Trisha may have been able to do the "WW2/western" approach with bandoliers, pockets, and patchwork accessorizing. It may have been a different approach due to Lucas wanting a more portentous costume drama.

But, to me, it was kinda jarring.

Well it does take place only 220 years in the future.. on Earth. Star Wars takes place god-knows-how-long-ago in a galaxy so far away that it's inconceivable to the human mind, so the costumes are going to be radically different. And I highly doubt either JJ Abrams or George Lucas will want someone running around in jeans and T-shirts in Star Wars.

I was also hoping to see Trisha Biggar return but I guess it's not meant to be. Oh well, I look forward to seeing his take and I'm definitely encouraged with his work on Blade Runner.

It does seem like they are getting people who have worked on Abrams and Arndt-written movies. We so far have the Star trek director, costume designer, and editor, and we *apparantly* have the production designer from Oblivion *which Arndt co-wrote*. Should we expect more sharing crew for this movie? Just wondering :p

As long as a few long-time names from the crews of Star Wars movies (guys like John Williams and Ben Burtt) are still involved in the making of the film, I'm good with it.

    Sounds good to me.

Personally, I was not a fan of a lot of the outfits in the prequels, I wanted something a lil less flashy or crazy at times. Queen Amidala's various looks were like something out of a nightmare.

Kaplan should be able to tone things down abit.

Amidala's clothes were like something out of an 80s psychodelic music video.

Oh, thank goodness! I was afraid we'd have Trisha Biggar back.
You are basing this on a movie that takes place in a relatively near future on Earth?
