    Wookieepedia says he's dead for-realsies-this-time.

And it's not really that "dumb", IMO. Without getting too much into real-world discussions here, let's just say that the "rehabilitation" of Nazi weapons designers was and is not without its share of controversy. I can buy the decision being made to execute Lemelisk.

I agree, this looks very remniscent of Force Unleashed. Or the period between III and IV not after ROTJ.

You'll find a lot of real world examples of objects being remade with a different exterior to distance from the users of the objects -- yes, objects hold no inherent feelings and thoughts, but humans ever love so provide them with such.

Just as you'll see the post-Imperial government refraining from building Death Stars (which required far too many "perfect" circumstances to destroy and are the most capable military vessels built), typical dagger-style warships like Imperial-classes and TIE "paneled" starfighters will most likely be scraped and rebuilt into something else. Yes, they're all perfectly fine at what they do, but if you can just rebuild them into more effective and politically correct designs (whilst keeping shipbuilding alive), you may as well do that for a new post-despotic government.

I can see the post-Imperial government throwing most of the production for warships at Mon Calamari and Quarren designs and starfighters to Incom-style starfighters.

The death stars were stupid weapons because of the lack of bang for buck value, compared to the resources required to build them.

With the resources and industrial capacity thrown into the construction of one death star, they could have had tens of thousands more ISD's instead. And they would have been a lot more effective at projecting Imperial authority.

I want to see Star Destroyers in the ST, because they're awesome. I have no highbrow reasons, just....they're awesome. :)

Interesting....Tie Fighters are currently everywhere on starwars.com

EDIT : I don't know how to upload an image, but you can see Tie Fighters when you visit a broken link on starwars.com . Looks like Filoni's Tie Fighters to me.

It does. Isn't that Plo Kool stamp also Filoni's stamp for approved concept designs?

Oddly enough, the bit/ly address on the file on the bottom right of the screen in that image leads HERE

The Aurebesh translates to "Striking First So You Can't Strike Back".

Is this part of a mystery or just nothing at all?

    0331??
could this be a release date for this project
    March 31 2014?

"Striking First So You Can't Strike Back"
    Set inbetween episode 4 & 5?

    (followed the Link)
    What does this mean?
In those first dark days it seemed certain the bright flame would be extinguished before it cast the light of new truth.

To add to the mystery, the blog post is dated May 20, 2009. However the image for it was uploaded this month (May 2013).

Notice the link to the image (http://starwarsblog.starwars.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/stayontarget.jpg). Especially the red bit. It is the year and the month that the image was uploaded.

I checked this by going back to earlier blogs.

This image is from a blog post from March.

The address to the image is (http://starwarsblog.starwars.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/BLOG_01_ActionFigure.JPG)

You get the picture (no pun intended)...

So, the date of the blog post is a bit of misdirection as the image in it was uploaded recently.

It seems we do have a bit of a mystery here.

I hope the TIE series gets expanded upon like the EU did, they had some really epic designs like the TIE Phantom, TIE Avenger, TIE Defender.

A question I have with this announcement is was this what Simon Kinberg was brought in for or is he also working on the spin-off films? Personally I'd be kind of relieved if this was his sole involvement because honestly he was the only writer brought in so far that made me nervous.
