Really, this news just makes me sad because it basically confirms that the live action series is never going to happen. I mean, it's pretty dumb of me to have ever believed it would ever happen in the first place, but still.

 

So the chance they screw up Han's backstory is what, 87%?

Ever? I wouldn't blame anyone for believing the initial announcement, but after a while it became like that episode of the Office where one by one everybody figures out Michael has nothing and just leaves. I mean, it became a joke, and in typical fashion they never really owned up to it.

( Just kidding, looking forward to it. 2009 can't get here soon enough. )

 

I think the live-action series is still coming out. The problem is that Doug Wheatley is illustrating it.

 

It occurred to me a little while ago that since this is set in the dark times there's gotta be at least a 90% chance we're gonna see Palpatine...can't help but worry at the thought of having to endure Tim Curry butchering more scenes.

 

Tim Curry makes everything better.

 

It'll be Ferus Olin all over again, let's be honest. I expect Ahsoka's arc will be almost identical.

 

Except for the Joker. Very glad Mark Hamill nabbed that role.

 

This is either gonna be really good or TCW bad. The time period is so interesting and rife with storyline possibilities; it'll be a massive shame if they screw this up. I'm looking forward to it with caution.

Either way, I know all my favorite Dark Times stuff has already been erased. Begun, the new canon has...

Not necessarily. In fact, I'd be willing to bet it will be similar to TCW; generally very average writing, occasional sparks of inspiration, and occasional "WTF were they thinking?" moments. Really, TCW was across the board when it came to quality in writing.

 

Wherever they're less expected, of course.

I don't think so. Vader likes Ahsoka which can't at all be said about Olin. Olin was just an annoyance.

You really think he wouldn't care for the girl who is for all intents and purposes his daughter? No, not seeing it. Not when he reacted to Luke like he did.

 

What's worrying is that the imperial senate wasn't dissolved until the start of ANH so Filoni still has the option to do more "politics" episodes. *shudder*
Banking Deregulation FTW

 

Whilst I did joke about the Death Star plans thing, I must confess that I will probably be giving this a shot. Whilst it had its flaws, I did enjoy certain episodes of TCW and really enjoyed the worldbuilding like seeing the Umbarans or various droid designs or ship designs or vehicle designs. So, kind of looking forward to seeing that again. Still, I do hope that Rebels actually makes use of some former Separatists during this time. I think this show might actually be somewhat darker compared to TCW due tot he setting and hopefully they keep a consistent format of episodes namely going 1-2-3-4 instead of TCW's 3-6-1-8.

Though most likely we will end up seeing more EU contradictions... that crazy Cad Bane and his contradictions of the EU will continue. Prepare for Ackbar to had never been taken as a slave, Sullust being a ringed planet, and maybe even Mace Windu survived his fall only to be a crazy cyborg hellbent on revenge against Vader

 

using former separatists? nope they use more OT background characters and ruin their EU history
