Discussion Post Credits Teaser?

Yo!

So the Marvel Universe has a tendency to have post-credit teasers for the next flicks. Since they are owned by Disney - do you think Episode VII would have a teaser at the end?

JJ has a mixed flavor on this.

Both Star Treks had nothing, but they are owned by Paramount.

Super 8 had one - the kids Zombie film.

Off the top of my head, I cant think of other JJ films.

Do you want a post credits teaser?

OK, not really. I agree with the others who said that it wouldn't fit in a SW movie, even though I usually enjoy them in other movies.

 

I say no. It goes against the tradition of Star Wars. These are supposed to be movie serials. When the end credits roll, you've got an ending to that particular story but there's always something else left to unravel. When TPM ended, Naboo was saved but the mystery of the Sith was yet to be revealed. When AOTC ended, Obi-Wan had been rescued but the galaxy had gone to war. When ROTS ended, the Old Republic had died and the Empire had taken over. When ANH ended, the Death Star had been destroyed but Darth Vader had survived and the Emperor was still out there. When TESB ended, Luke had been rescued from the clutches of Vader but Han had been frozen in carbonite and taken to Tatooine. Only Return of the Jedi had a final ending and even that needed to be expanded on for clarity with the galactic celebration in the SE to show the fall of the Empire. Even then there were a few threads left open to explore in the future in what I would call "Volume 2" starting with Episode VII.

Once the end credits roll, that's it. You have to wait for the next one. Having a post-credits scene goes against the spirit of the kinds of movies the Star Wars saga is inspired by.

 

Just because the overrated Marvel movies do it, doesn't mean Star Wars has to do it.

 

Not for the Saga, but maybe OK for the Spin Offs.

 

Nope. All I need is a cliff-hanger ending, and this music...more than enough to get me excited.

Most of me says no, since it's not really a Star Wars thing, but I wouldn't be upset if it did happen. I love that Marvel does it, and I always look forward to them in the theater so I guess there is part of me that would really like it, but I don't think I really need it.
I usually watch most the credit when I watch a movie... until the staff starts giving me the evil eye, so I'm usually around in the theater anyway.

Won't happen -- 100% guaranteed NOT to happen and a non-issue. JJ is all about making the ST with all the nuances of the OT. Post credits teasers are okay for franchises that need that kind of thing to boost interest.

 

Ext. Sarlacc Pit, night-

Wreckage of Jabba's sail barge is still burning, but then out of the Sarlacc comes a massive gurgling noise, and an explosion of flame and gunk. Boba Fett, covered in the Sarlacc's digestive juices, crawls along the sand. Then:

BOBA FETT

"Now, I'm coming for you, Han Solo, and this time, I won't have my back turned."

It is very possible that the end of each film starting with Episode 7 will have a teaser setting up the next Spinoff.............For instance We get Episode 7 then in the Summer of 2016 we get the 1st Spin Off which will either be the Young Han Solo film or the Boba Fett Spinoff, and a Teaser setting that up would be Awsome !!

 

Episode I had Darth Vader's breathing at the end. That's the closest any Star Wars film has ever come to having a teaser.

Do I think they will have teasers at the end of these new films? I'm going to say "yes," but I wouldn't be surprised either way.

Off topic note: The teaser at the end of "Iron Man 3" was funny! I just saw the movie last night.

 

I think the nature of Star Wars storytelling builds them into the body of the films, so no, that's not Star Wars

 

That wouldn't be a Star Wars thing.
