So I was thinking: what if Rinzler was at some sort of LFL get-together shortly after Disney announced the whole 7/8/9 schtick, and started smoozing with Abrams and Arndt and discovered they were thinking about using Lucas's old plots as a basis for their new films. And so he called his nerdiest bff Stradley and was like, "Hey man, y'know how these last few weeks you were desperately thinking of a plot to save Dark Horse? Well I got just the thing..."

And that's how J. W. Rinzler became the biggest troll in geek legend.

So apparently if you spend $100 on dark horse digital today (you get a gazillion comics in this pack), you can get a special preview of The Star Wars.

Anybody want to make the sacrifice for the team? Anyone?

I don't even read previews. Spoilers are evil. $100 spoilers make Satan cry at night.

...tempting, but no. Maybe if they had a better selection, but I already own digital copies of half of the bundle and the other half I don't care about owning. Not to mention its more of a sampler than anything (like parts of Legacy, KotOR, the early parts of Empire, etc.), so no thanks.

Just saw that car destroyer design and wow, it doesn't change my decision since I was already going to buy it, but still, wow. And nice to hear of Sean Cooke again, always loved his Legacy designs (one of the saddest things about Legacy's end was not seeing more Sean Cooke designs, something I'm hoping Legacy Volume 2 will remedy).

We're the wrong audience for that deal--we've already read everything.

    I have seen the preview.

Luke is old and looks like obi-wan. Leia is still a princess, I think. It all looks like Naboo, Tarkin is some kind of alien and they are discussing whether to fight the Empire or agree to some unfavorable treaties; Luke says fight and Tarkin says Treaty.

There's also the Kids bundle at https://digital.darkhorse.com/profile/3362.may-the-4th-kids-megabundle/ which is only $30 and still has the preview.

Helpfully I only discovered that right after just buying the full bundle on its suggestions for what to buy next. :p

I wouldn't waste your money though, as it's only 4 pages. Quite a few of the comics are ones I haven't gotten around to reading yet though (despite having them on a shelf behind me), so I thought I'd bite the bullet and try out the digital versions... it might prompt me to finally switch.

Oh dear heavens. Is Tarkin the Mon Mothma now?

Tarkin is more than just some kind of alien...

    He's Duros!

No, really, he looks basically like a Neimoidian. Admittedly, he also looks kinda like Darth Plagueis, but I'll just put that down to the Duros having been contradicting the EU ever since the very start.

Edit: Oh, and just to make GrandAdmiralJello happy, Tarkin is also wearing a penis hat.

I love this art. Also, this totally proves that Luke should have a beard. And maybe that uniform, too.

For those interested in Tarkin... he's in the very last image, sitting on the sofa on the left in the purple outfit. The black shape with gold circles that pokes out above his head is his robe's penis hood.

For whatever it's worth, they're inside the Palace of Lite on Aquilae.

Someone just posted this most hilariously awkward image of Breha and Leia from the May the 4th preview on Wookieepedia:

Somebody is clearly a secret genius.

We must ascertain their identity, and put this person in charge of everything.
