Jesus really was a Jewish carpenter, and Christians do claim him to be "other-worldly" of some nature, so calling him "from outer space" is just an extravagant way of saying that to make fun of his putative supernatural nature. The Flying Spaghetti Monster was invented out of whole cloth to be a humorous and witty response to the supposed "Intelligent Designer" posited by ID-in-public-schools proponents. Again, it was somewhat humorous and relevant at the time. That time is long past.

 

As long as Christians keep pushing to have their religion shoved into science class, that time will be the present.

 

If you are going to do the ironic post-atheist thing to piss off the Dawkins set, you need to take it further than just "God exists".

I don't believe in a God. If I did, I would have become a priest surely. That's the logical consequence of it. If you're not a priest, I don't believe you really believe. You're using religion as an excuse, an anesthetic.

Some people need a God to tell them they mustn't lie or steal. Some people just don't lie or steal.

Other people believe gnomes exist, or the Loch Ness monster.

 

Those are far more plausible than God is.

Marvel has a Thanos, Galactus and other such celestial eternals who would better fit the description of a God, and would pwn your Hulk.

Plus there's Apocalypse.
