CT Favorite visuals of the OT

Luke looking out to the sunset in ANH, The end of ESB when luke and leia are looking out at the galaxy and at the very end of ROTJ right before we go to credits and everyone is laughing and smiling. Would love a poster of any of these.

 

All mentioned, but...

Opening scene - ANH
Carbon chamber - Vader's silhouette when he first appears.
X-wings coming into formation before Battle of Yavin.
Rainy night on Dagobah.
Droids looking out the window of their escape pod.

 

Gotta be those Twin Suns.

And the Endor space battle / death star attack - one of the most impressive pre-CG special effects of all time.

And of course the Asteroid Chase - THE most impressive special effects sequence ever in my opinion.

 

Ingram_I I would have to agree that my favorite image from the OT is this:

I don't know what it is that draws me to this image and these scenes, but I love it. Perhaps it is also the numerous parodies of it, as well.

 

I would have to say every scene with star ships in it prior to the SE.

I mean, those models just had so much detail that they looked more real than any CGI attempts have.

I love so many of the ones already posted, but one set of visuals that has always been pretty special to me is the sequence from Cloud City:



These visuals made an indelible imprint upon my imagination when I first saw them in 1980 at the age of 10. To this day, when the sky takes on certain colors, I find myself mentally transported to the childhood wonder of that "city among the clouds."

Ingram_I: thanks for taking the time to post so many great visuals for us to enjoy in this thread. I also have a question--what scene was the image labeled "Abstract Sparks" in your post #17 taken from?

I love the exotic vases and other trinkets here, as well as the mounted Tauntaun and Jerba heads.

 

Personally this one is a awesome shot of palpatine with a front row seat to the reluctant rematch vader vs luke round 2!

My favorite is from the most pivotal duel of the Star Wars saga.

 

The Tatooine twin sunset from ANH, the Bespin shots of the Cloud City from ESB*, the Luke and Leia/galaxy shot from the end of ESB and the view of the Death Star II exploding from Endor are the standouts for me. Pretty much every visual I like has been posted in this thread at some point already. You could literally go through the three original films and find dozens of iconic shots scattered throughout, and much of that is down to Ralph McQuarrie.

*Those two Bespin photos above are probably my favourite shots from the entire series so far.

 

Looking back over this thread, there are some amazing images aren't there. One which amused me recently was Chewie out in the snow on Hoth.

 

A little small but one of my favorite moments in ROTJ.

 

The music sells this scene.

 

Most of these will already have been posted, but here is my favourites from ESB.

It's my favourite film of the two trilogies by a long way and, for me anyway, it has the best visuals/artwork as well. Some of the Bespin shots are just stunning, especially in the blu-ray version. Ralph McQuarrie, take a bow man.

 

The bike chase on Endor. The Tusken raiders ridding the Banthas and Darth Vader standing in a dark room looking like one black silhouette.
