The prequels would've been better off if directed by someone else.

The latest (simultaneous) version of Greedo-shoots-first portrays Han's ruthlessness better than the original Han-shoots-first scene.

The OT was great as much because of what couldn't be done technologically, as what could.

The EU clarifies that womp rats are large, dangerous predators- a severe pest to farmers.

And in the ANH movie "They're not much bigger than two metres"

    Not exactly "small".

    Or this forum.

Just for the record, discussion about the RLM reviews (pro or con) isn't welcome in Saga. It's PT-specific, there's a thread in the PT forum for it, and it seems to bring out the worst in everyone.

I think Attack of the Clones is my favorite standalone Star Wars movie, and I'm having a tough time coming to terms with that.

Episode 7 should not be made, no matter how good it ends up being. It should not exist.

Not unpopular but it seems the majority believes empire strikes back is the best.

I think there are probably several movies 25+ years old that are better because they were made during a time of more limited technology. I think Jaws is a good example. I have heard all the stories about what pain it was to work with the mechanical shark and all, but I think the shark worked better in a limited role (the first death scene of the woman swimmer and all the barrell scenes were great and didn't require seeing the shark at all) but they probably wouldn't have left it at that if SFX were as advanced in the '70s as now.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I can see where technological limitations might have turned out for the best.

You know where that really shows up, car chases. The car chases of the 70's and 80's in movies like The French Connection and Bullit were far better than the CGI crap you get today.

I was watching TESB the other night and listening to the commentary about how limited they were in what they could do with Yoda. Thank God those limitations were there as those are some of the best scenes in the whole saga. Intimate, enthralling, powerful.

Among the general public, ANH (or Star Wars as they know it) is the most popular, but among SW fans I believe ESB edges it out. The Original Star Wars appeals to everyone, whereas the sequels and prequels appeals to the hardcore SW fans, as I know many people who just like the original and thats it. Plus when they re-released the movies in 1997, here were the box office grosses:

    ANH: 138 Million
    ESB: 67 Million
    ROTJ: 45 million

I guarantee if they would have released all 6 movies in 3-D that the Original Star Wars would have grossed the most money simply because it appeals to a mass audience.

I just love a new hope. It's the reason that I love Star Wars so much to this day. I'll never forget watching it for the first time as a kid. I'll also never forget when I found out jedis were not real.....horrible day for me

ANH has the mass general appeal of being the original and a film considered to be a cultural icon. Even people who are not fans of sci-fi / fantasy or SW in particular would always turn up to watch it on the big screen in the same way as they would The Godfather or Casablanca. The others less so for that mass audience.
