That surprised me too. I thought Vader would win. He's the central character of the whole Saga, and I thought girls liked bad boys. What do you think about that?

 

Hahaha...when it comes to SW "good boys" vs "bad boys", I'm firmly on "Team (Young) Obi-Wan" as far as my favorite crush-worthy male character (with "reformed bad boy" Han Solo coming in at a relatively distant second place). But, outside the SW universe, I also have a definite weakness for Nolan's/Bale's Batman...so go figure!

 

Non-main characters:

10. Shmi - Sticks with the "there was no father" story she probably told her mom.
9. The Rancor Keeper - Was saddened by his loss, but doesn't seek revenge.
8. Podrace Announcer (Non-Basic Speaking Head) - Must have excellent patience and control to keep from strangling the other.
7. "Red" Astromech droid - If not for his bad motivator, Luke would still be on Tatooine fixing moisture vaporators (or dead)
6. Lobot - Doesn't say much, but gets the job done.
5. Death Star Dentition Level Officer - No body (or "thing") gets into his detention without clearance.
4. Captain Panaka - Keeps his head up even though he loses every argument with Qui-Gon.
3. Aayla Secura - Hey, I'm a guy.
2. Admiral Piet - Knows the proper reply to an order from Vader. "As you wish, my Lord." And ask no questions

Han Solo.

 

Oola. When I first saw Return of the Jedi, I felt sorry for her. To me, she always seemed sad, even when she was dancing. Feeding Oola to the rancor was, and still is, the reason why I don't like Jabba. On top of that, I thought Femi Taylor was, and some how still is, absolutely gorgeous. I'm also quite fond with female twi'leks, and green is my favorite color.

Oola it is.

 

Han Solo is my favorite, but I identify with Luke Skywalker more.

 

You want me to choose?!?!

Anakin Skywalker because he has layers, Han Solo for his attitude, Sidious simply because he's a good villain, Obi-Wan because he didn't just throw in the towel, Leia because she talks back to her enemies an d a few others.

It varies a bit, but the first 7 are always on my list of favorite characters.

 

I would also put Anakin and Luke as my #1 and #2. I think they have by far the most interesting and complex developments. I disagree with #3 Qui-Gon though. While Liam Neeson is awesome, I find Qui-Gon to be a bit annoying and drab. Also I'm interested to know why you like Shmi so much seeing as she doesn't have a huge number of lines in the film?

 

I love Qui-Gon's character because I think he is a brilliant addition by Lucas -- he personifies exactly what a Jedi of the Old Republic should have been like and stands in stark contrast to the dogmatic Jedi Council. At the same time, he's not without his flaws and can be stubborn, dismissive, and hurtful (particularly towards Obi-Wan). But he did what he felt was right, followed the will of the Force, and helped the weak and downtrodden. For me, he's the best of the Jedi -- second only to Luke.

Shmi is one of my favorite characters because she has such a powerful, quiet strength. She's a simple person who doesn't ask for much and makes the best out of what life gives her. I also really loved her interactions with Qui-Gon in TPM and found her caring for her son very touching.

 

LUKE SKYWALKER

Anakin/Vader may be the story of Star Wars; Han and Lando the charm; Chewie the enduring; Jar Jar the foil; Palpatine the spectacle; Ben, Yoda and Qui-Gon the wisdom; Leia and Padme the passion; R2 and 3PO the heart…

But Luke Skywalker is Star Wars. He’s the essence, the journey, the sense of discovery, the crippling defeat (i.e., shattering of forms) and the one who must learn the deepest. And by Return of the Jedi, in my opinion, he ends being the coolest character in the saga.

 

Luke will always be #1, but I think Obi-Wan ties with him, too.

 

Nicely put Ingram. I'm very shallow so I went with the badass and the smartass 1 and 2, but you put a good case forward for Luke.

 

Luke. When I was a kid, I wanted to be cool like Han, but growing up I identify with Luke.

 

Luke would have to be my favorite, followed by Yoda and then Han.

 

Yoda. Only in the OT, though. After that, my favs are Han Solo, Princess Leia and Ben Kenobi.
