I could be wrong, but I think the relationship between Perry and the Bush family is pretty icy- Texas is like my home state of SC, Lieutenant Governor is a separately elected office. (we just voted to change that here, starting in 2018).

Sure, Bush probably assisted him at some point in his political career, but I don't think he did him many favors outside of leaving office to run for President. I'm not a huge fan of Bush, but Rick Perry isn't fit to run a KFC.

While some of the proposed regs are obviously way over the line, some seem like a good idea. I read that a couple days ago, so my memory may be faulty on this, but the monitoring heart conditions and the like would be a good idea with Viagra. It'll never pass and it shouldn't. Plus the people it is meant to mock will sadly never get it.

It says that Texas does its own things. But those are not always palatable nationally. Rick Perry is one of those things.

Is this a thing nationally, or is it just my state for some reason?

I get bumper stickers.... but a special license plate, that has to be approved by the state government??

They tried for it in Virginia. IIRC I think the State Supreme Court shot it down.

Again, you people are disgusting in your adamant desire for the continued slaughter.

God bless Rick Perry for opposing the American Holocaust.

You know it's more complex than that. If you are pro-life, you cannot deny it's an issue between two people, one mother, one child, together. That makes it a more complex individual-liberty versus the state issue than a distinct ethnic group targeted for genocide by a crazed Nazi dictator.

Female politicians have also introduced measures to ban vasectomies and mandating rectal exams for men seeking Viagra.

Yeah, and for adhering to a nationwide philosophy of cutting programs that give assistance to the kids who've progressed beyond the embryonic stage-- oh, hell, he probably advocates not providing publicly funded prenatal care. What a stand-up guy.

Yup. Nothing new. But I wish it would light the lightbulb up in some of the male legislatures heads, that, if they don't want mandatory rectal exams for vasectomies and viagra, then why the hell would we as women want some sort of probe up our vagina in order to get an abortion or even birth control (as I've heard some suggest during the whole "should collages and public companies be forced to offer birth control" debate last year.)

But...but...but...it's unhealthy for men not to get their Viagra. Have you ever been a dude unable to get an erection? If not then you don't know what you're talking about. Heads explode and hot women walk away from them and then they can never get laid again. And the space-time continuum will implode or something.

And you can't keep them from their vasectomies. Don't you know that a Republican Congressman's salary isn't nearly enough to cover child support to that many women? And you would ask him to take a few seconds to put on a condom. How demeaning.

This is one thing I have always found grotesque; virulent pro-lifers who also virulently decry "freeloader" single mothers. Ugh.

As long as stuff like this continues, I'll know that the GOP isn't serious about winning national elections:

    http://www.nationaljournal.com/cong...s-scandal-even-without-a-smoking-gun-20130702

There's no one around with enough stature in the party to explain this. The smart Republican strategists understand it, but I'm not sure how many of those there are. The Republican party will win national elections again when it responds to the needs of a majority of people in this country. It has nothing to offer right now, and that's the main reason they'll keep losing. Unless they learn how interact with and respond to middle and upper class (but not 1%) voters, they're not going to win the presidency back in 2016. Democrats have a lock on these two groups. The very rich vote Republican, but the upper middle class and generally well off have become reliable Democratic votes. They don't care for the Republican nonsense on social issues, and their education makes the Republican embrace of climate denialism and general avoidance of all things rational unacceptable. Tax breaks alone aren't enough to win back these votes.

The middle class wants to see things important to them talked about in substantive ways, and the upper class is generally too smart to be fooled by things like the IRS non-scandal. It makes for a grim road ahead for the GOP unless they get their act together soon. We're only about 18 months away from knowing who the Republican presidential candidates will be.

Watched Wendy Davis interviewed on Maddow. She pointed out that Perry had shot down a bill that woul dhave made texting while driving illegal because he thought it was government being to involved in people's lives. Wocka wocka.

Even here, where the inmates are definitely running the asylum, where we have voter ID laws, a same-sex marriage ban and and a new law mandating that 7th graders be taught incorrectly that abortion causes preterm birth...we have a no-texting-while-driving law.
