Details man, details! What sort of Fleet Junkie art? Any amazing shots of the Rebel Fleet, especially Mon Cal cruisers?

I am also VERY interested about the new Galaxy Map. What sort of information does it have?

Wait you already got a copy... damn... means mine will properly be sitting on my desk back at home, unless my flatmate was once again to lazy to check the mail... [face_plain]

Also interesting alien biology details some may find interesting. And nice ways on how to easily kill Duros (Take that Cad Bane!)

    Hehehe...

I also smell a Ryloth retcon or the beginning of one. Art shows ICE SIDE too.. have yet to check what text says about it. Awesome planet details in art and style like updates to the ATLAS planet profiles Huzzah!

PS: Nice action art of old WEG designed ships smaller and bigger ;)

Is there much focus on the Rebels, or more about fringe elements?

    is there a difference? :p

honestly, this is the core rulebook and has a bit of everything of course but leaves some topics out for the other core rulebooks to come (there were 2 more, one about the Force and another but it still covers the Force in this one too). this is no ultimate alien anthology yet has a good share of aliens. same for planets, ships, droids, tech etc. a lot in there but FFG needs time to be as comprehensive as WEG and WOTC have been.

I'd say from my first impression this is more Fringe than Rebels. But I have yet to delve in deeper. Also I expect future products to expand the rpg line into other eras further away from the movie era. Of course all here is usable in any era and the galaxy map has Zonama Sekots 137ABY position as well as the book does have HK-47 in art. But its main focus is OT era so far. This rpg also focuses on new characters more than giving stats for existing ones, which I also hope will come in future updates.

but something that surprised me and I think that is a good sign: the book has a short paragraph highlighting CANON and the EU and acknowleding both. Gamemasters need not adhere to it but they can if they want to make it more interesting. Loved that.. a sign it still lives and will forever! take that you rebootscreaming naysayers!

Yeah, I think the three books are: Fringe, Force, and GCW. So I imagine most of the stuff Nick & I are looking for will be in that final rulebook -- but this one seems pretty great already, from the sounds of it.

I seriously hope FFG gets the opportunity to provide proper technical readouts for the Tector and Secutor-class Star Destroyers, along with the rest of the unknowns from KDY Star line, the Super Transport line (namely designating the escort carrier the Super Transport VIII escort carrier), and the MC family.

Not yet seen them but I drool over KDY Star Galleons! Ever loved them since the TIE-FIGHTER game.... I customized it once to have to face a fleet of over 50 Star Galleons... in groups they are impressive ships and hard to take out!

lol... the part about CANON and EU also advises the Gamemaster to inform the players beforehand if he wants to play a noncanon/alternate continuity version of SW ... or else he may face their wrath.

The Empire made Teth the nominal capital of Hutt Space.. with a corrupt Moff and the Hutts ignoring the fake-capital.

No wonder I ignored Teth, it was in the TCW movie, but I forgot about its appearance in the HST.

That's actually straight out of the Han Solo Trilogy. (But kudos to FFG for in-depth research)

Edit: Hmmm... local game shop has it for only $39... that's mighty tempting...

lots of imperial and rebel glory in it too, yet most taken from WEG Sourcebooks obviously. This book made good effort to use the best of the Atlas, WEG, WOTC, etc. to introduce new players to the SW galaxy. Imperial laws, institutions, organisation, same for Rebels etc.

Cool walkers. Wonder what their designation is. They're very similar to AT-STs, but with a smoother "face". The red-glowy eyes(?) make me think they could be droids. Drone walkers, perhaps? It's been done before...

I've been reading a lot of reviews about this game and frankly... I still don't know what to think.

I've already asked here if it's worth buying the EotE core book, some ppl answered me yes, especially when compared to the Saga Edition which I was pretending to use for a new campaign for my friends this Winter.

I think so far I've got 2 problems with this game that are blocking me from getting it. Aside from the AWESOME aspects, which I won't cover in this post but, I completely agree... awesome artwork, well explained universe, no class levels, a much more cinematic feel, an original set of dice etc etc... I'm also liking this game but:

    - These so called original dices are bugging me, and it seems I'm not the only one. A lot of people have got mixed feelings about it. Major complaint is: "yeah dice works, the new features are great but... this so called opening for narrative by the results of the dice are really confusing. I don't know what to add in the narrative sometimes (bad GM? maybe) and my players are clueless as well, they can never come up with something cool and cinematic enough to complement the results of the dice. Maybe that sort of thing develops with time, but it surely would be a nice add-on if they made a supplement/book covering this aspect with lots of EXAMPLES of how to do it..."

    - I read somewhere (presumably in the FG EotE Message Board, can't remember) that, although the two books that will be coming out could be added as an extent to the already existing EotE core rulebook, they're not sure how it will work, since FG just might revise the system rules, and make these new 2 books incompatible with the EotE one ( you'd have to adapt some stuff to work, and frankly I hate that ****). Also someone there also said to not expect these 2 books to come out so soon. One of the users said the 2nd book (that covers the rebels x empire, focusing the trooper class etc) is still due to next YEAR... The situation gets worse when we think about the current discussion of " oh my god, I don't wanna be restricted in the Era of the Rebellion, blah blah blah, I don't want my game to be class restricted 2, etc, etc, etc" , which can be cut off very quickly since we don't know what are FG's plan for future supplements...

But seriously, if we could be very simplist and reduce Saga Edition to "miniature tactical wars and munchkin players with jedi" vs EotE " cinematic feel through dices that incite a lot more of narration and makes all the roleplay more fun" , then I'll stick with Saga. Nothing against EotE but, I don't need a system to force things that already happen on my table rpg games, especially since I already make my D20's adventure be filled with RP if needed!

    That's just IMO...

    Cya!

P.S : By no means I mean to start a "which SW RPG is best WAR", I'm just expressing my feelings that so far the game hasn't quite well convinced me to use it, and expecting someone here to convince me of it! Haha!

Oh, is the second rulebook going to be the GCW one then? I had heard that the second one was Force, and GCW was going to be the third.

But if I was wrong, I'll be pleased.

Age of Rebellion is currently set for 2014, and Force and Destiny for 2015.
