Brazil were excellent, but it seemed clear Spain weren't up for it from the start. It was too hot and they were too tired, this will likely be where Brazil will do well in the WC since they have the climate and home nation advantage.

Spain should at least have scored the penalty they got gifted.

For all of Spain's midfield talent, when you're relying on Torres to lead the line... yeah, there's issues.

Villa is a much better striker, although in Spain's system they don't really have one.

Didn't Bayern beat them 7-0 over two legs?

Indeed, the Spanish invincibility has been off for a little while now.

Cardiff have signed striker Andreas Cornelius for a club record fee of £7.5million, although it seems likely Paul Ince might be going to the club for a rumoured £8million.

He was a good player in his day, but that's ridiculous money for someone of his age

Did I say Paul? I meant Tom Ince

And Paulinho has confirmed he will leave Corinthians, presumably because he's going to sign for Spurs.

Yeah it seems like it's for Spurs because apparently Besiktas is looking to pick up Adebayor

Paulinho? Are you sure you don't mean Tominho?

    Clearly I meant Incinho

Chelsea holding talks with van Ginkel, Stoke have signed young defender Marc Muniesa free from Barca.

Seeing as Schwarzer has left Fulham, maybe they will go for Julio Cesar?

And who are the mighty Wigerton going to sign? Arouna Kone. [face_plain] Not only does he strike me as an aged lump, but he wears a completely inappropriate shirt number. This I cannot condone. Who else? A yes, Antolin Alcaraz. Probably because he's available on a free. Seems that his only redeeming feature will be on the odd occasion he has a good match, shackling a dangerous striker (such as Fernando Torres). Then we can say there was no escape from Alcaraz.

Just because he wore #2 at Wigan, doesn't mean he will at Everton.
The team definitely needs a reliable striker, Jelavic does not appear to be that (although he might improve next season). If he doesn't cost very much and is good for 2 or 3 seasons I would think that is good business.

But there are younger more cheaply available alternatives to Kone, just not sure who off the top of my head.

Jelavic is a spent force, I think. Last season was the test of him. Could he replicate the outrageous success he enjoyed in his first six months at the club? No. His touch and confidence deserted him, and even when he did have the chance to recover (Moyes handed him opportunity after opportunity) of score a goal, he failed to capitalise. A real shame.

You never know, Hernandez had trouble in his second season at United, but he was very good last season when he played.

Kone may not be the best striker around, but could Everton afford someone like Michu?

Seems to be some dithering by the FA over getting goal-line technology installed, typical.

Hawkeye secured a deal to supply all Premiership clubs with the technology, but Wembley does not have it yet despite claims it would be ready in time for it to host the Community Shield.

Guardian saying PSG willing to go to 50 mil for Cavani and also want Cabaye. Laurent Blanc says wee wee.

Still hoping Chelsea drops them all with a bid. Dunno who else is out there that we'd be waiting on.

Chelsea lost out of Falcao, they shouldn't lose out on Cavani given they have the financial muscle to afford him.
