Losing Rooney is not a big blow now that Kagawa is around, it may hurt him more to leave depending where he goes.
If he does stay, he needs to change his attitude.

Looks like Strootman may be staying at PSV. Pity, he is exactly the kind of player United need and that should be prioritised over players such as Thiago.

More like 4th from the bottom. Stoppage time winner on the last week to avoid relegation.

False. He's the shinner of his generation.

I've no doubt Shinji can fill that role in more than name.

Rooney's a year removed from dropping 27 PL goals, more than Van Persie did this year. He's a great player, and United would be foolish to dump him without getting a ton of cash.

Apparently Napoli are trying to get Dzeko or Jovetic once Cavani leaves...oddly enough it looks like PSG might be the ones to sign Cavani....

I wouldn't have minded if Rooney left (although not to Chelsea) but I have no problem with him staying, ultimately. I just hope Kagawa gets more time behind RVP.

The Thiago saga is weary now. I need to stop reading rumours.

He was born and grew up in NZ then moved to Australia. He still likes to see Aussies lose at international spots, as he should.

It's The Ashes next, the humiliation seems set to continue for Australia.

Wigan seem to be signing quite a few players despite being relegated, could be a good idea or it could swamp them with a large wage packet and hamper them.

Spurs were lucky. £10m was far too much for a player who's rapidly approaching over-the-hill status.

    What jp said.

Much to my Australian friends' despair, and despite having lived in Australia for 15 years, I just can't support any Australian sports team. The Lions deserved their victory. They should enjoy it though because they have no chance in 2017. ;-)

Benteke puts in a trf request. Tottenham should, and will be all over it now that Villa has turned them down.

I don't know why but I can't see Benteke at Spurs. If they're going to cough up 30 mil for him, they mind as well go for Jovetic or Alvaro Negredo instead

Indeed, if he can get fit again he might regain the sort of form that made him a really great striker.

Either way he's still better than Torres :p

Nigeria suspends teams over 'scandalous' 79-0 and 67-0 scorelines

    • Nigerian federation acts over 'mind-boggling show of shame'
    • Plateau United Feeders scored 72 goals in second half

The Nigeria Football Federation has suspended four teams involved in "scandalous scorelines" after two lower league clubs chasing promotion and needing to boost their goal differences won games 79-0 and 67-0.

In the matches, played at the same time, Plateau United Feeders reportedly scored 72 of their goals in the second half to beat Akurba FC 79-0. Police Machine swept 61 goals past Babayaro FC in the second 45 minutes of their 67-0 game.

The NFF called it "a mind-boggling show of shame" and said players, match officials and the tournament coordinator would be investigated for match-fixing.

The federation's director of competitions said "anyone found to have played some role in this despicable matter" would be "severely dealt with".

Plateau United Feeders scored more goals in 45 minutes of football than Everton did in the prem last season. :)

Surely one of the first rules of match-fixing is don't make it obvious that you are doing it.

Seems Spurs might be trying to swoop for United target Kevin Strootman. That would be annoying, especially as they already have Dembele & Paulinho and United need a player in that position.

Chelsea have signed Mark Schwarzer, he's solid cover but he's hardly a long-term successor to Cech.

No, Thibaut Courtois is the long term successor to Cech. They only need solid cover out of Schwarzer.
