Speculation Will Luke become so wise and so powerful that he can even stop the ones he cares about from dying?

This topic would be great to see. it is somewhat ironic- the fact that the Sith tried so hard to achieve this, but in the end it's achieved by the Jedi... and it also brings a bittersweet reference to when Yoda said "strong am I with the force, but not that strong.". which tells me that it can be done-even as a Jedi.

this would be a very interesting thing to see.

Right now, my sense of humor is truly gone. Which is why I would find that idea disturbing in so many different levels.

Not likely, he is mindful of the Force. He uses it as an ally not as a tool for personal gain.

    _ _ _ _

If Ahsoka were to make an appearance, I agree that this is the way it should be done.

By not looking for immortality, Qui-Gon achieved immortality.

Anyway, I don't get what's wrong with something not being natural.

P.S. Luke should never touch the Dark Side. There is a reason ROTJ ended the way it did.

Luke did skirt the Dark Side somewhat in RotJ. When he force choked the Gamorreans in Jabba's Palace... and when he went ballistic on Vader after he threatened Leia. Sure he rejected the Dark Side at a crucial moment, but he did *touch* it.

Luke had been through a lot. Seeing the charred remains of Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, witnessing the death of Obi-Wan, losing his hand, being front and center as Yoda passed. I think Luke is going to be alright. Now the Solo kids, not so much.

Yes he touched it, but he didn't go full-on Dark Side.

Anakin's already had this crisis. Luke doesn't need to face it, too.

Sometimes I feel like TFN has a fetish for Jedi falling and becoming Sith, all without explanation.

I don't know depends on damage I suppose if a character gets incinerated absolutely not now death by a single lightsaber stab almost immediately after they get hit perhaps.

Seems like a logical thread that runs through the story, unless we're all looking for something new and unpredictable in the SW Universe.

I'd like to see more human concerns with a superhuman thread running through and less obsession about this kind of stuff. I know it's fantasy but sheesh. Enough with the death cheating.

Soon will I rest. Yes, forever sleep. Earned it, I have.
    LUKE
    Master Yoda, you can't die.
    YODA
Strong am I with the Force... but not that strong. Twilight is upon me and soon night must fall. That is the way of things ... the way of the Force.

Whenever this question is asked, I always think of the above dialog between Luke and Yoda. The Jedi do not fear death, they embrace it as a natural part of life. It is "the way of the Force". The Sith however, try to distort the Force to their own devices. In answer to the question, no I don't believe Luke will keep those he cares about from dying. He will grieve as is natural, but he will also accept.

Firstly, I can't believe I missed this thread.

Secondly, I LOVE this premise! The Skywalker/Solos would be ivincible. You could drop moons on them and they wouldn't die. Chewie for instance would catch it and tosss it back into space like Superman or something just because Luke waved a hand at him. I can envision a scene where Han Solo is in the Falcon being chased by a squadron of Mandalorians so he and Luke fly into the sun to wait them out, you know, because Luke can stop death. There's so much you could do really. Luke just needs to touch you and you live again. Awesome!!!!

I think the fact that there are force ghosts who can communicate with the living shows that this has already been achieved.

Luke doesn't have that type of personality. He's pragmatic and centered.
