And Wedge and Tycho just hit the Vong with the Empire. The Vong didn't like the Empire. *wicked grin*

How is it that I've missed this thread till now?

Oh yeah, back when I first joined the JC, I'd only read one X-Wing book (Star Fighter of Adumar). Therefore didn't feel it right to join. Now I've read them all and am more enraptured with Rouge Squadron than I was from just the one book.

That was Enemy Lines, not Dark Tide. But yeah, EL was more Rogue Squadron follow-up than Dark Tide.

I thought that Rebel Dream was interesting in that Wedge partially deposed the surviving Provisional Council, blackmailed them for military assets and marginalized them, and managed to live through the aftermath. :D

I loved the part where he threw the blaster down on the table, personally.

How about the part where he totally wipes the floor with the Vong fleet - when he was specifically trying *not* to?

And the whole Blackmoon Eleven scene, up to and including Gavin making his *commanding officer* 'sir' him?

I also like the glimpse we get of Wedge's family - and the terror of them maybe not making it off Coruscant.

You don't remember Enemy Lines duo? Rebel Dream, Rebel Stand? Set on Borleias. Introduces Twin Suns (as far as I remember).

I have all of the NJO. It took me FOREVER to collect them all. And when I started, I was restricted to the high school library and the town library. Vector Prime, Balance Point, Edge of Victory and Enemy Lines was it.

I'm still working on getting all the NJO books, and all the X-Wing books. I only have 1 X-Wing book and less then half of the NJO. I was finally able to get the two short e-books of the NJO shortly after I received my Kindle.

My local library has maybe 2 of the NJO books and a few of the X-Wing books. I can tell I'm one of the few who read them, every time I go to the library I have to fix the order they are in on the shelf because it's not right.

Question: I just bought Mercy Kill, should I finish reading the FotJ series before I start MK or not?

If you are close to finishing FOTJ I say finish. If you have more than 3 books to go enjoy Mercy Kill.

Huh. I don't remember this. Going to go look now; need to experience such awesomeness.

    *Reads, remembers*

Bah-hah! That part was great! Who knew, huh? He either got the biggest chewing-out of his life when they landed or he got a commendation for guts. Or both.

Yeah. The last time I read that book (and the time before that), I hadn't read the X-Wing series yet so I didn't truly appreciate Wedge, Tycho, or Gavin, let alone Wes (except for Wes flirting with Jaina; that was classic). Now, though, just looking at that one part, I need to reread those books (the whole Vong series really) so I can get to appreciate their connectivity.

I can see Wedge trolling Gavin so hard for that... and then praising him.

EDIT: Actually, I read a fic once about just that... Now if I could only remember what the title was, and where I found it...

It was a lot of fun. Seems like those were the books in that series where the tide was staring to turn. The whole thing was just so dark until that point.
