Maybe if you offer to do a dramatic reading of them.

Oh, I didn't know that. And here I always cursed myself for missing The Tenebrous Way and not wanting to spend more money on Darth Plagueis. Phew, okay, JJM, the hardcover is still on.

It is one of the better Star Wars books I've read recently, even earned a 5/5 stars. JJM made the characters real and had them in meaningful situations. Yes, it is a little slow at times, but I found the slower parts to be useful in the sense that they helped build the characters. In the end JJM succeeded in wrapping up all the threads he created and the way the character's stories came full circle really made for an enjoyable conclusion. I hope that there is a part 2 as there is plenty of time between the end of the book and the beginning of the movie.

Interesting that you call it slow, since I got the opposite feeling when I read Knight Errant and Lost Tribe. I guess that just shows how JJM's evolving as a novel writer, if he takes the time to add that extra development, enriching the more action-y parts of the book.

I think that JJM might have been somewhat limited given the setting. He did hit all the main points one would expect from a planet like Tatooine, even making the planet a bit of its own character, but the book does have that western or frontier feel to it and makes that gritty style work. Given space isn't a key player and technological wonders don't really have a role, I can see why a slower pace is needed at times. For me this was a far different book than most SW books, and I was very pleased to get a book that broke the mold. It was nice to see something different.

Can you elaborate as to whether a certain ex-Jedi from the Legacy era made an appearance?

    No, no I can't.

One of my teachers had once told me that "rumor is born from truth but raised by misconception". Read into that what you will.

Given JJM's post just a few pages ago, I think it's better us ARC people refrain from specifics. [face_peace]

From the sounds of the Crucible reviews, the Kenobi except is the only good thing in that book...

for those that have read the book, does JJM continue with his wonderfull trend of using every opportunity to have numerous, and often very underused, alien species on page?
