Cutest part of that series was David Duchovny playing a transvestite DEA agent in what amounted to an extended X-Files episode. :D

Josie's final fate was the most nightmare-inducing element of the show.

I don't think it was considered a cliffhanger at the time, since as I recall everyone just went home with the mission complete. What was left unresolved?

Probably the last image in the game, of the Reapers cruising in towards the Milky Way. In all other respects it was a resolved game, yes.

Well, yeah, but also the Arrival DLC ended with Harbinger saying "Prepare yourselves for our arrival." Up until the very end of ME2 the way in which the Reaper threat would play out was up in the air. I know I was pumped the first time I saw the ending.

Oh. Still not ringing any bells, but okay.

I'd still qualify that as less of a cliffhanger and more of a teaser. We knew they were trying to get into the galaxy since sometime in the middle of the first game. "They're still coming" isn't news.

I never played Arrival. So there you are, I guess.

Melanie Rawn's Exiles trilogy. The second book ended on a massive cliffhanger:

The bad guys took over the government, the good guys are on the run, one of the main characters might be dead.

The book came out in 1997. The sequel is still "forthcoming" [face_plain]

One could make an argument that Mass Effect 3 had a cliffhanger as well.[face_whistling]

Mass Effect 3 had the opposite of a cliffhanger. At least with the extended cut.

The ending of Halo 2. Still appalling after so many years.

    Wasn't a cliffhanger, just a terrible ending to a great game :p

Just remembered ABC's V remake had a horried cliffhanger that was left unresolved as ABC cancelled the show after Season 2.

This belongs in the "Greatest, most kick ass cliffhangers ever" thread. :D

EDIT: Btw, have you listened to his podcast for that episode? He talks all about how they set the audience up for the fall, including using "triumphant" music right up to the last second, so that you never see it coming.

Wanna just tell us which book?

Could be, I'm still reading that, though if I recall my spoilers correctly they didn't address the Feast one.

There are a few cliffhangers-- well, "cliffhangers" of varying degrees-- in FfC that aren't addressed in DwD because 1) the stories take place at the same time (though DwD goes further in the timeline) and 2) there are POV characters from FfC who don't have chapters in DwD. There's never just one. :p

The major cliff'hanger' that I can think of from FFC was pretty much addressed by one chapter in ADWD.

Though if you haven't finished ADWD you may not have encountered it.
