It really was. I very nearly refused to pick up another NJO after Vector Prime... it was just so painful to me. I did eventually. Edge of Victory was an easier read, I did enjoy it. But yeah, Enemy Lines - even though it's set straight after a HUGE catastrophe - really does have a lot of lighter moments.

I read a really dark fic where the premise was that they didn't. I'm not sure where to find it now though.

    Oooh.

I had the idea of maybe just one of the girls (Syal) not making it off planet and having to survive the underground (basically). And when Luke, Mara and the Wraiths hit up Coruscant, they find her and bring her back to Borleias.
And then my bf played Last of Us, and I had this mental image of Wedge and Syal, stuck on Coruscant together. (Then I had to adjust it to Iella. So Myri would have had to get herself off planet.)

I think I found it. Downtime site, called Final Choice, and oh god, I'm crying. And my bf is very worried about me. Gah. Right in the feels.

Oh, I'm glad I read it. Just... you know... =((

Trying to find the 'Gavin finds out who Blackmoon Eleven was' fic... so hard to do!

EDIT: I found it! On Downtime (I thought that was where I saw it).

A Standing Ending by Astronut (And that's who I thought wrote it! Haha, my memory ain't so bad after all!)

    The two best parts were:

Joy ride. Eleven skips and a rakamat. I should have known.

    or

"Colonel, if you ever develop rank in proportion to your disciplinary skills, some day they'll make you a fleet officer."

Now never, ever find the link to the one where Iella and the Kids get stuck on Coruscant.

Gavin needs more love. Admiral Darklighter, has a nice ringmto it, doesn't it? And he started with Rogue Squadron at 16 - and only because Wedge fought for him. Nice pic, Veggies!

    I know it's a double post but I couldn't help it.

Now I know why we are the "home of the dancing gamorrean." [face_laugh]

I still say it should be "Lock S-foils in attack position" and I will probably continue to say that even after I figure out about this dancing Gamorrean business when I finally get around to reading Mercy Kill.

I am torn over the fact its more of a FotJ tie-in than an X-wing novel, the parts from 13 ABY to 29 ABY notwithstanding. Don't get me wrong, I liked the preview of 13 ABY section in LTotS, but its connection with FotJ just ticks me off.

I've only read one of the FotJ books so there's a lot I probably won't understand.

I stopped at Unifying Force, read some Wookiepedia summaries, and enjoyed Mercy Kill just fine. It reads like Allston really wrote it for his Wraith Squadron fans, and it's a great return to the best of the EU. Shame few other new EU novels got what made it so good.
