As I pointed out in the story thread, the book was published in 2008.

My thinking is that at the time, no sequel movies were planned, so perhaps some kind of video game continuation of the saga was in the works, before the whole Disney thing came to pass.

 

While that might be true... would Lucas have given the go ahead on "Episode VII", even as a video game, unless he had been involved and it correlated with his vision for what were to actually happen afterwards? It's one thing to have a book that calls itself "the sequel to Return of the Jedi", and maybe it's just me, but I feel like "Episode ?: Insert Title Here" with the same font and format as HIS other movies is completely different.

 

You make a fair point. It does seem strange for Lucas to sign off on something like that.

 

Maybe it was a working title they later abandoned?

I really wish they would just give us something!!! Fine, don't give us the cast but give us the title. It would be nice to start calling it by an actual name rather than Episode VII.
