    Grimby I was asking about the truncating issues related to what happened AFTER the move, NOT anything to do with the temp boards. I have a few fanfics that suffered the truncating and I wanted to know if anyone has gotten closer to fixing the issue with the database.and coding.

    If you don't see it at all, I would have to assume it was pruned or the thread deleted for some reason. Did you try searching the FanFic forums and/or asking the FanFic mods for help finding it?

    There is no news to report on this. I am still trying to get IGN to give us the full backup of the database. IGN was sold recently to J2 Global (parent company of Ziff Davis) and that has thrown a huge wrench into their day to day operations.

    You beat my search by about a minute. If that is it it's dated prior to 2010 so if we still have that test database load maybe the rest is there.

    Speaking of the test database, exactly when in 2010 was the snapshot taken? If possible, I could use this post from November of that year. Being that it's late in the year I suspect it's not in your copy, but I thought I'd try.

    Apparently not.

    I had somehow Googled my way to a locked FanFic thread about crossover stories, and in one of my posts, I linked to a story of mine, which created the above error.

    I don't seem to be able to replicate the Google result, so it kind of stops my query in its tracks.

    Sith-I-5: different issue. The old boards used different links to the new. This should be able to help: http://lazyk.sub.jp/jc_postfix.php Just paste in the link and then copy the result. It seems a bit too late but I hope it helps in the future.

    No need to overreact. We can just salt their fields and poison their wells.

    Plus, the backups might be in the homes, and that would just be counterproductive.

    I'm pretty sure IGN is not going to come through on this anytime soon, if at all. Is there a Plan B for restoring all the posts? Or are they just going to be left forever truncated at this point?
