I was talking about EU-created galaxy-wide conflicts. There are certain things that should be left to the movies.

Ah ok, my bad. I can see it going both ways. The main appeal for me of a movie is that you can visually see it. No matter how great your imagination is, there's a large difference between reading about the Death Star and seeing it on screen.

Is anyone else reading the thread title and just hearing "Psy" singing "Gangam Style" and saying "Bantam Style" or izzat just me?

Galaxy wide conflicts. I understand the appeal of having them happen in the theater, but I can also accept them happening in the novels or comics, and even video games after Kotor.

Star Wars is a movie franchise and the EU is tie-in material, meaning that nothing that affects the movies can happen in the EU. KOTOR can get away with it galaxy-wide conflicts because it takes place thousands of years before the movies.

Stopped being just a movie franchise a long time ago. I agree that nothing that happens in the novels can change what happens in the movies, but it can explain details in greater depth, and seeing as they specifically don't orbit around the movies and take place before/after them they are not limited by them and can have any number of events, some galaxy wide, take place within them.

Remember Brian Daley's Han Solo books? I'd love to read more of those. Just something light and fun about life as a minor citizen in a GFFA.

    RIP, Brian. :(

I hate to admit it but...

I MISS SUPERWEAPONS. I loved the Sun Crusher, and the Star Forge was cool in KOTOR.

    There, I said it.

In both Star Trek end credits, Abrams's collection of random planets included roughly 70% damaged planets breaking apart. I think he likes damaged planets. He'd love a moon crashing into a planet.

TOR takes everything SW has encompassed and represents it in some way, so it is no surprise they've got the Year of the Superweapon in there.

I wouldn't have been surprised if TOR blew up Alderaan and the Third Essential Chronology retconned the Alderaan from the movies into being new Alderaan.

I think they should reboot that style with a novel called "Bantam Begins"

Not sure if this is on-topic, but I wonder what "style" we'll see for the comics.

Del Rey isn't the publisher Star Wars needs, but it's the one it deserves right now.

(Yes, I know that was the sequel)

Ouch. I've heard die-hard Trekkies say nicer things about Star Wars. Are you sure you're in the right forum?
