This makes it feel more ongoing somehow.
It's also another sign of Roman numerals (and the term "numerals"?) fading out of society, like with movie sequel titles. It was through the displayed copyrights in movie credits that I learned Roman numerals.

Once you get past 'X', Roman Numerals become a pretty archaic and hard to manage numerical designation system...

also, having more characters makes it twitter unfriendly. one typo and you've got yourself the wrong hashtag.
Dunc's theory is that while Celeb VII would line up with Ep VII, the other celebrations afterward might not be on the same time frame as the movies, and thus get confusing.

They already dropped the II from some of the merchandise and publications for Celebration Europe II last week.

...that was the reason behind the "Celebration Europe" cap without any numbers! Was wondering, if they are just selling old stuff from the first one. :p

Heck, some "regular people" are already confused by the episode numbers for STAR WARS movies. Actually, lots of them are.

Well the Big question is what do we want to call it on the forums? Celebration 2015? Celebration Anaheim?

I think it should definitely have the year in it, as that would always be the most defining factor if Celebration returns to a location. And I believe that is very likely to happen with Anaheim, with Disneyland right across the street.

Officially, it is Celebration Anaheim. I actually like this sort of nomenclature. Makes Celebration sound kind of like the Olympics: "Were you at the London Olympics?" -"Yeah sure, I was there. And you? Bought your tickets yet for Celebration Anaheim?" :) Yes, has a nice ring to it.

Thing is, Celebration is much more likely to return to Anaheim in a foreseeable future, than the Olympics is to return to London (eventhough it was the third time).

I still think, that the year must be in, to distinguish it from future Celebrations in Anaheim.

I agree that the year should be included since two celebrations were held in Orlando (back-to-back no less).

    Celebration Anaheim 2015

With Celebration: Anaheim there's no easy short abbreviation like C7; Celebration 2015 becomes C15

Unless they start giving them fancy subtitles like Celebration: Reign of the Ewoks, I'm still calling it C7, I don't care what they say.

Thank goodness- when they held the one in LA, I kept mistakenly thinking I was in Louisiana.

I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering if Disney gave an official reason for not using the roman numerals anymore?

No excuse that I heard while I was there. Best bet is that they wanted to keep it simple with "Celebration (City)(Year)" which is easier for most folks to follow anyway.
