I am pleased this game is released on PC the same time as the console versions, it's annoying having to wait around for months while everyone else gets to play.

I'm gonna take a stab here and say that Talia will be one of the Assassin's. It's a bit of a stretch, but it would be a cool way to connect the games.

Other names I think they might use...David Cain? Even though he's kind of like Deathstroke-lite. Maybe Henri Ducard to really meld up the various Batman canons.

EDIT: as excited as I am for this, I'm still hoping we get a follow-up to City that deals with Azrael. I got to thinking they might include an Azrael in this game, but it'd be hard to justify or explain his presence in a prequel.

 

^ Electrocutioner and either Mr Freeze or Prometheus are my guesses.

 

I hope they don't do Mr. Freeze, simply because he was so well-done last time around. Plus, it's always fun to see them take on new characters.

I can't see them doing Freeze. Like Joker he obviously doesn't count as one of the main assassins sent after Batman. Not sure how much room the game will have for side characters besides the main ones sent to kill Batman (and Black Mask). Joker may just be an additional bit, because you can't really have a Batman game and not include him.

 

I actually suspect we're getting a The Dark Knight situation here. The 8 assassins fail to kill Batman, and Black Mask turns to someone a little crazier. I very much think there'll be a moment in the story where the stakes are raised.

 

Game comes out on Friday, can't freaking wait

Looks like perhaps it's gonna be a rental this time around.

 

Other reviews seem similar. It sounds like the gameplay is vintage but less effort went into expanding the game to have great depth.
This could of course be fixed with DLC, given it seems like only a little bit is missing to make it the same calibre as the other games.

Sticking to what works is a good idea, but not adding much to make it new & fresh can be a problem when convincing people to buy it. Being too samey won't necessarily convince gamers to pay out again.
I got it on pre-order anyway, so I'll have to see for myself.

Here's the thing - don't let reviewers dictate what you play or shouldn't play. If something looks good to you, then check it out! Play it - maybe buy it.

I'm hearing nothing but "more of the same, and it doesn't suck" about Arkham Origins. Hell, I just bought the damn thing. I'm not expecting a grand revelation in game design.

 

Yeah, tbh sometimes I don't know why I keep going to such a biased and, admittedly, IGNorant site. Maybe one of these days I'll remove it from my favorite places.

I was always in the fence about this title but if it really brings next to nothing new to the table, I know I certainly won't be that motivated to shell out $60+ for it. Renting it on the other hand is always an option. Same thing with Assassin's Creed IV. I'm seeing supposed "innovations" there that may end up being just tweaks into what we experienced before in AC3 but, at this point, I wonder if that'll be enough. All of a sudden there doesn't seem to be anything that interesting in my gaming radar.
