In tradition of what Star Wars is, it will start with ship(s) and some sort of action sequence. I can't see them starting with a light sky and simply characters hanging around. The thing that's nice about Star Wars is that it doesn't rely on flashbacks or time machines. Who's doing what and why they are doing it can and usually are explained in very simple conversations. That's all that's needed in Star Wars.

I do see a possible return of Boba Fett. With all due respect to the novels, I would not at all be opposed to them re-writing a return of Boba Fett. He can easily play into the Mandalorian plot. Perhaps he was rescued by vagrants scouring through the wreckage of the Hutt sail barge. He could even be the primary antagonist who brings a personal side to the conflict-a grudge against Han, the Republic, and the Jedi. Sure he might be old-ish (60-65) but he could also have been either preserved, injected with something, or could be part of an even bigger plan to keep those near death from dying (play into the idea of Plaguis?).

A thought that came to mind would be having the leader of the "pirates" or whoever attacks in the beginning remaining a mystery until later in the film when it's revealed to be Boba Fett. The reason we don't know it's him is because his armor (1) resembles that of the pirates/mandalorians and (2) it's more advanced since his original outfit was badly damaged in the Sarlaac pit. Including Fett in some way ties in a lot of aspects such as the clone facilities, revenge, the idea of being revived and even (pushing it and probably not well received by many) midiclorians being used to save some from death-Boba Fett being an experiment.

This notion brings meaning to Han's involvement and a plot twist that could surprise some fans. In the nature of JJ, this could be kept a secret until the movie's release (kinda like John Harrison/Khan connection).

That sounds great. However, I think the Solo offspring will be the main character. And it's clear, from the casting news that he/she will have a couple of friends. So I'll be interested in seeing how they incorporate the new characters.

Plot elements I like, even if not all of them necessarily fit together.

    1. I think the galaxy should be in a state of chaos. After the Soviet Empire fell, the world actually became more chaotic, if less dangerous in terms of nuclear annihilation.
    2. Darth Plagueis (not a Muun)
    3. Imperial Guardians/Knights/gray Jedi
    4. Maybe a Palpatine offspring (female)/legacy of some kind (maybe a Sith apprentice)
    5. Sith Triumvirate (no more Rule of Two)
    6. Okay, Mandalorians (no DeLoreans, however)
    7. Black lightsaber
    8. Vader clone
    9. Sith Hell, aka, Chaos
    10. Palpatine's spirit helps Jedi defeat Plagueis by giving info on how to find/destroy him
    11. Palpatine's spirit escapes from Chaos
    12. Female version of Solo with Jedi powers (not named Jaina)

Yeah Jabba the Hutt was originally supposed to be a humanoid with a gopher/dog like face. We all know how that turned out.

Bringing Plaguis back would be interesting, but not as a strange skinny misshapen dude.

Re. Your point 1. I think it would be tricky to show the galaxy in chaos because it might undo what was achieved in the OT with the defeat of the Emperor/Empire. Therefore, I think they may be more likely to show the galaxy in relative peace... with something/someone about to threaten that stability.

You may be right, but it's poor logic. X is the empire and Y is chaos. These are two completely different issues. For example, Americans still feel proud about defeating the Soviet Union. And the chaos that followed was not viewed as undoing that success. Most view Reagan as a hero of the Cold War; even Democrats.

Yep... Wouldn't deny that in reality, after a revolution/civil war, there would be a period of instability... I'm just not sure it will be portrayed that way in Ep VII because I think the story will probably take place circa 30 years after ROTJ... If it's set only a couple of years after ROTJ; yes I'm sure they'll portray the galaxy still in turmoil. :)

As we see in our world today, the chaos would be likely to grow over time, not lessen. Without the Cold War, without a strong hand to force it to be stable, the world has gone back to fighting its countless grievances.

we gotta analize a lot of facts....

    1) movie will be 30 yearish after ROTJ... what happened 30 yrs after world war 2?
    2) republic is totally reborn not in formation, but maybe the galaxy had more peace and success under empire's control?
    3) no vader, no palpatine, no maul, no plagueis. 30 years had passed... thats a lot, if some of them are still alive they had returned before dont you think!? =)
    4) the old republic is a great asset that have not been used! maybe luke searching for some artifacts guided by anakin's ghost arrives to Thyton! or... Korriban!? we really need to see korriban in the movies plus some ancient sith lords! =)
    5) the main enemy... thats the big problem.... who can it be now?... a mandalore? a cartel lord? black sun or xizor's heir? the problem with sith lords is that they always come from the Shadows so he may appear from anywhere! even from the senate, from another lost planet or something like that.
    6) WE WANT KYLE KATARN!
    7) han solo isnt the same as the original trilogy... he's more mature he evolved from an adventure guy to a rusted old cowboy and now he gotta deal with that we can have some fun with that in the movie and a lot of new quotes!
    8) Leia is finishing her ruling she left the republic with some problems and she feels very bad because she wasnt as good as she thought being a leader...
    9) Luke is the Jedi Grand Master he created a little Jedi Counsil with Kyle katarn and some other Jedi knights...

this is my first post here im not from USA or UK i speak spanish so i hope u can understand my cryptic writings =) hahaha

I still want an agent of chaos as the main villain if the setting is a galaxy in turmoil. Someone who comes in and stokes the fires of fear, old prejudices, etc of the worlds of the galaxy trying to hold together a new republic in the face of a enemy.

He doesn't want to take over. He doesn't want to rule. He's just crazy.

This thing about families and jedi really should be a plot point.

    Particularly this:

"At its core, the Star Wars Saga is about the Skywalker family. The Jedi of the Prequels are hostile to the very thing the whole story is about. This makes the Prequels the story of breaking the Skywalker family apart.

The OT is the story of the Skywalker family coming back together.
And the Next Trilogy? Well, that’s the story of keeping the Skywalker family intact."

    To quote Obi Wan:

"The Emperor knew, as I did. If Anakin were to have any offspring, they would be a threat to him."
Why did the Jedi prohibit marriages in the first place, if forcesensitivity was a genetic trait or the midichlorians were transferred similar to mitochondria (though mitochondria are only inherited from the mother, since spermcells are free of them). OTOH why didn't the Sith spawn offspring (Rule of two-->Father and Son)

I think Yoda gives a reason of sorts in Episode III: "attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed, that is."

However, this is a bit iffy.

I think there should be a realization about how the jedi order had flaws and it was precisely those flaws that led to Anakin Skywalker's demise into Darth Vader. Luke knows this better than anybody and is now the sole force representative in the galaxy (as far as we know). He has the duty to pass on what he has learned but at the same time he is conscious about how the former jedi order was terminated genocide style by these flaws. The fact that the jedi are not allowed to love makes relationships become this forbidden thing and can lead to a "wrong use of the force". Besides, even if you leave the midichlorian fiasco aside, you know that the force can be passed on genetically. It's a broad statement, I know, but it can be worked into the story given the whole "the force runs strong in my family". If jedis are like priests or monks, then they will never have a family to pass on the force. That's highly unnatural, given the nature of this trait. The force is a spitirual entity in itself and it has a will, so if the force willingly manifested trough the whole Skywalker bloodline in order to save the galaxy, does this mean that the force can be a family trait as well. Could we talk about force sensitive families instead of force sensitive dudes who become loveless, humorless monks?

It's a very delicate subject but I can see it happen. Besides it would resonate with the world today. The fact that priests (catholic in the most media covered cases) are celibate has led to awful cases of child abuse. As humans, they are repressed in love and sex and that is a tangible problem today. I can see a parallel right there. Crafted with respect, taste and wit, I can really see this element coming through.

Force clans might be worse for the galaxy. Different families and family members vying for power.

What the Jedi Order did seems unnatural to us, but the Younglings never seemed like abused, unhappy children; the Jedi became their family. The problem with Anakin is that he was, in fact, too old to begin the training.

I didn't mean to imply that the jedi abused younglings. I meant that the love prohibition ended backfiring big time.

I wrote these plot summaries as a bit of a joke--still, who knows, it might contain ideas that make their way into the actual films:

Star Wars Episode VII: Jedi Trek

In 23 ABY, on the planet Kashyyyk, a young Lowbacca is invited to join the Wookiee Science Academy. Discovering that the Academy views his high midi-chlorian count as a "burden", he decides to join the Jedi instead.

In 51 ABY, the Millennium Falcon leads a Galactic Alliance fleet investigating a "lightning storm" in space. An Abominor ship, the Heep, emerges from the storm and attacks the Falcon. Heep’s first officer, Daatuh, demands that the Falcon’s Ambassador Leia come aboard to negotiate a truce. Once aboard, Leia is questioned about the location of Kashyyyk, which she refuses to tell. Heep’s commander, Loar, kills her, and continues his attack on the Falcon. General Han Solo, the Falcon’s commander, orders the ship's personnel to evacuate the ship and follow the Alliance fleet in retreat while he pilots the Falcon on a collision course with the Heep. At the cost of his life, Han ensures the survival of his granddaughter, Allana Solo, who escapes with the fleeing fleet while the Falcon is destroyed.

Allana becomes reckless as a result of losing her grandparents. After a cantina fight with Jedi padawans accompanying Klin-Fa Gi, Allana meets Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. He encourages Solo to enlist in Jedi Academy, where she meets and befriends the cynical healer Cilghal.

Three years later, Lowbacca accuses Padawan Allana of cheating during the Dark Side Cave test. Allana believes cheating was okay because of the fact the test was literally unbeatable: When she took her weapons into the cave, she cut down a Sith that shared her face, and was lectured by Master Skywalker. When she retook the test without her weapons, she was shocked by Sith lightning that her Dark Side illusionary double generated, and scolded by Master Skywalker for not taking her lightsaber and that, “A Jedi’s saber is her most precious possession. She must keep it with her at all times. This weapon is your life!” Allana then took a ysalamir into the cave on the third try, suppressing Force Visions, and torched the cave to the ground, resulting in her hearing. The disciplinary hearing is interrupted by a distress signal from Kashyyyk. With the Alliance fleet out of range, the Jedi are mobilized. Cilghal and Allana board Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Patrol cruiser, the Resolute, named after the legendary ship his father commanded in the Clone Wars. Realizing that the "lightning storm" observed by Kashyyyk is similar to the one that occurred at the time of her grandparents’ death, Allana convinces Luke the distress signal is a trap.

The Resolute arrives at Kashyyyk to find an Alliance and Jedi fleet destroyed and the Heep drilling into Kashyyyk’s core. Heep attacks the Resolute and Luke surrenders, giving Lowbacca command and promoting Allana to first officer. Allana, R2-D2, and Jaden Korr perform a space jump onto the drilling platform. Korr is killed but Allana and Artoo disable it. However, Loar launches a "mass shadow generator" into the core, creating an artificial black hole that destroys the planet. Lowbacca rescues the Wookiee council and his father Mahraccor, though his mother dies.

As the Heep heads toward Coruscant, Loar tortures Luke to gain access to Coruscant’s defenses, and Allana is stranded on Alaris Prime after attempting mutiny. Allana encounters Chewbacca, long believed killed at the Battle of Sernpidal during the Yuuzhan Vong war decades ago. Chewie explains that he survived the battle through a last-minute wormhole to the Abominor galaxy, where the Abominor homeworld was threatened by a volatile supernova. Chewie’s attempt to build a "mass shadow generator" to create a black hole and consume the supernova failed, and Loar’s family perished along with the Abominor homeworld. Heep and Chewie’s vessel were caught in the black hole, sending them back to Chewie’s home galaxy. Loar stranded Chewie on Alaris Prime to watch Kashyyyk’s destruction as revenge for failing to save the Abominor homeworld.

Reaching a Jedi outpost, Allana and Chewie meet Kyle Katarn. With new teleportation technology Chewie stole during his time with the Abominor, Allana and Katarn teleport onto the Resolute. Following Chewbacca’s advice, Allana provokes Lowbacca into attacking her with his claws, leading Lowbacca to relinquish command due to being emotionally compromised and shamed as a “madclaw.” After talking with Mahraccor, Lowbacca decides to help Allana. While Resolute hides itself under the gas clouds of Muscave, Allana and Lowie teleport to the Heep; Allana rescues Luke while Lowie uses Chewie’s ship to destroy the drill. Lowie leads the Heep away from Coruscant and sets his ship to collide with Loar’s ship. Resolute arrives and teleports Allana, Luke, and Lowie aboard. Chewie’s ship and the Heep collide igniting the "mass shadow generator" and consuming the Heep in a black hole.

On Coruscant, Allana Solo is promoted to the rank of Jedi Master in command of the Resolute. Lowie encounters Chewie. Having selected a planet for the surviving Wookiees to colonize, Chewie persuades his nephew to continue serving the Jedi, encouraging him to do what feels right, instead of what is “honorable”. Lowie remains in the Jedi and becomes first officer under Allana’s command. Resolute goes to hyperspace as Chewbacca roars in approval.

Star Wars Episode VIII: Into the Dark Side

After violating the law of non-interference in the development of primitive cultures, Jedi Master Allana Solo loses command of her Jedi patrol cruiser: the Resolute. Master Luke Skywalker is reinstated as Resolute’s commanding officer. Luke, feeling that Solo deserves a second chance, assigns Solo as his first officer.

After a secret Rogue Squadron installation in Coruscant is bombed, Luke and Allana attend a meeting of the Jedi Council to discuss the manhunt for the perpetrator, a rogue Zabrak Galactic Alliance agent named Cody Antilles. The meeting is attacked by a speeder piloted by Antilles. Allana destroys the speeder, but not before Luke is killed. Cody escapes by teleporting to the Hutt homeworld of Nal Hutta. Solo is reinstated as Resolute’s commander and receives orders from General Lando Calrissian to hunt down Cody Antilles. Calrissian has 72 prototype proton torpedoes delivered to the Resolute, and orders Solo to fire them at Antilles’ location on Nal Hutta as soon as Solo is in range. Kyle Katarn resigns in protest at his not being allowed to inspect the new weapons, and Lowbacca, Cilghal and Klin-Fa Gi convince Allana that it would be better to capture rather than kill Antilles and have him tried for his crimes. In the meanwhile, a new scientist boards the Resolute.

Arriving on Nal Hutta, Solo, Lowie and Gi set out to capture Antilles but are intercepted by Hutts. Antilles kills the Hutts but surrenders to Solo after learning the number of torpedoes aimed at him. Returning to the Resolute, Antilles reveals his true identity as Darth Maul, a Sith Lord who was placed in carbonite along with 72 Death Watch warriors by Emperor Palpatine after Maul attempted to take over Mandalore during the Clone Wars. Maul was unfrozen from a decades-long period of suspended animation and had his Nightbrother tattoos removed by General Calrissian to develop weapons for a future war between the Galactic Alliance and the Hutts. The torpedoes contain carbonite pods holding Maul’s Death Watch followers inside, previously held hostage by Calrissian.

Resolute is intercepted by an unmarked Galactic Alliance warship, the Vulture, designed by Maul and commanded by General Calrissian. Calrissian demands that Allana hand over Maul, but Allana refuses. Resolute heads to Coruscant to have Maul stand trial, but is caught and attacked by Vulture. With the Resolute severely damaged, Solo offers to hand over Maul and the carbonite pods in exchange for the lives of her crew. Chance Calrissian, the general’s son, reveals himself to have joined the crew of the Resolute under a pseudonym; Lando teleports him to Vulture and reveals his intention to destroy Resolute in his plan to dispose of Death Watch and start a war with the Hutts. Vulture prepares to open fire, but suffers a power outage caused by Kyle Katarn, who has infiltrated the ship. With the teleporters down, Allana and Maul travel to Vulture by "space jump" between the airlocks of each ship. After taking control of the bridge Maul overpowers Katarn, kills General Calrissian, knocks out Allana, crushes Chance’s leg, and takes control of the Vulture.

Maul negotiates with Lowbacca, teleporting Allana and her boarding party back to the Resolute in exchange for the 72 torpedoes, planning to destroy the Resolute. Lowie hands over the torpedoes to Maul, but only after removing Maul’s frozen warriors and having Cilghal arm the torpedoes. The torpedoes incapacitate Vulture, and both damaged starships start descending towards Coruscant. With a misalignment of the hyperdrive resulting in the Resolute being powerless, Allana elects to enter the radioactive engine chamber and re-aligns the hyperdrive in time for the ship to prevent its destruction. Allana suffers fatal radiation poisoning in the process and dies.

Maul crashes Vulture into Coruscant, where Lowbacca teleports down to pursue him. Cilghal's experiment on an Ewok reveals that Maul’s blood contains regenerative midi-chlorians stemming from being experimented upon by Darth Plagueis as a boy, and likely causing his survival of the Battle of Naboo. These properties may save Allana. Lowbacca and Klin-Fa Gi capture Maul and Allana Solo is revived. One year later, Allana addresses a gathering memorializing the events, reciting the Jedi Code. Maul is refrozen in carbonite and stored away with Death Watch. A rebuilt Resolute departs for a mission of guarding peace and justice in the galaxy.
