Trust me 2nd, I've been in this business long enough to know the reaction I was going to get. If there was any surprise it was that he actually replied. I messaged orci too, but I doubt I'd get a reply. Well unless it was about the new world order or the World Trade Center bombing, that is.

This was one of the pre-show title-cards at the Rifftrax Live! showing of "Starship Troopers" this past Thursday:

SPOILER ALERT: The guy in the new Star Trek movie is Khan.
ADDITIONAL SPOILER: Hollywood has run out of ideas.

One does not simply enjoy Star Trek and Star Wars.

I feel like they were holding back. Dial was set to Fairly Honest rather than Brutally Honest this time.

... One must needs enjoy the Middle-Earth universe in addition to those two above.

    Cheers,
    Lauré :)

Indeed. We don't have to take the chaff with the wheat. And calling STID "chaff" is an insult to chaff. I started to watch it last night because I figure I would've done so out of cheer curiosity anyways, even after reading the "spoilers" and stupid things that happen throughout. But I guess seeing is believing, and the sheer idiocy that goes on in the first 10 or so minutes of this movie is simply perplexing, to put it mildly. I don't know if I could sit through the whole thing without throwing something at my TV.

They can. I enjoy both Trek and Wars on their own merits.

I think the point was that people who have only seen the new 2009 trek and like it do so because it's like Star Wars.

Riiiight. I certainly don't see ST09 or STID as like Star Wars.

*snorts* No, its not. Just because it shares some similarities doesn't make it Star Wars.

I liked STID very much by why the hell was it called Star Trek Into Darkness? The title still makes absolutely no grammatical sense and the acronym is unintentionally hilarious.

I'll have to disagree. Parts of Star Wars - even parts of godsforsaken PT - are passable, even entertaining. I can't say the same of NuTrek. Star Wars is fantasy wrapped around SF trappings. NuTrek doesn't even attempt at being competent SF.

PT is demonstrably worse than NuTrek. STID is better than any of the PT.

NuTrek>Star Wars prequels. By a wide margin.

I said parts of the PT because, on the whole, ultimately they are wretched abominations. However, you'll forgive me if I don't sit through STID to confirm that; what little I've seen requires turning off higher brain functions in order to enjoy the rest of it. :p

Except STID is watchable and even enjoyable, whereas the PT is not.

No it wasn't. The only part of that movie I liked is the one I later found out was a dream from when I had fallen asleep in the theater.

Wocky are you really going to side with the movie that has a wager that analysts all around the world still can't figure out?

The Qui-Gon/Watto bet. To this day, I have no understanding of what was supposed to have happened there. Nor have I met anyone who does, including several with terminal degrees.
