I will cry like a tiny angry baby if they use Luke & Leia's theme.

The original soundtrack for A New Hope was written with kazoos, but John had to convince George that it wasn't such a good idea...

I never thought of that and I couldn't agree more. They used to call it an etherphone...perfect for a Netherworld ST

Apparently, J.J. rejected Michael Giacchino's pitch for Episode 7 music. This might be why.

Great read. It's always refreshing to me how humble and simple JW is.

A trusted source of jwfan.net said the film will be scored in London (and not at Sony LA like the rumor was back in june).

I'd imagine that it will be recorded at Abbey Road... and I'm certainly going to back scratch and pull out all the stops to get in on some of that... :)

I'm glad to see Williams returning. And I also hope that they continue the trend of the prequels that had a "single" track as a marketing tool (i.e. DotF, AtS, and BotH).

That's reserved for the finale of Episode IX, which Weird Al Yankovic is set to score.

So when is our guy going to get started on this? I'm sure he's making notes already of what themes to re-use. But in all the interviews of John and Star Wars, it seems he has to see the film 1st before he can fit the proper musical cues in there. I just want another Epic new score to the Star Wars Saga. "Duel of Fates" and "Across the Stars" both can compete with the amazing themes of the Original Trilogy.

LOL, I guess I did. I know John is waiting on some footage. I'm sure the scoring will start by the end of this year for sure.

In the past he wouldn't see a cut of film until about 7 or 8 months before the release. Then he'd write for a few months, record, then send it off to Sony for packaging. So at latest he'll start work about Spring of next year. But he's also somewhat retired. That was all back when he had three other films to score that year. He might have more free time and may want more time simply because he writes by hand and he's now in his 80s.
