Yeah, when I saw the 40 year old military guy I instantly thought of Jagged Fel, mostly because he would be around that age anyway (If they are basing the movie around or a bit after where the books are.)

 

I would absolutely fall backwards out of my chair in sheer joyful hysteria if I saw the web page announcement words "Cumberbatch cast as Sith Villain". Everything from his deep sinister voice, to his intimidating presence and face, specifically his roles as Khan and Smaug/Necromancer, SCREAMED the words "Sith Lord" or "Sith Master". I hope this turns out to be true...

If Luke does have a son (for the longest time I was banking on Luke having a daughter but recent a-rumblings, a quip from John Williams about Luke having a kid, several mentions that they're casting for Luke's son. Han and Leia probably get the teenage daughter.) I think Ben Skywalker is a solid name to use. Maybe not the entire exact character history but, y'know Skywalker son, named Ben, probably a Jedi. Works well.

 

Cumberbatch is a slam dunk for Episode VII, since the day it was announced. The man's entire career was pointing to this.

*flashbacks reveal that Cumberbatch was Darth Plagueis the whole time since Ep. 1 and has been alive and well since then and in cahoots with Palpatine. Continuity proceeds to implode on itself.*

 

if the EUis going to disappear, please add at least a cameo of Kyle Katarn in the movie.

Kyle is almost always terribly written outside of his video games. Better off keeping him there.

 

Cumberbatch would make a great Sith.
Also they have pretty much exhausted the monster / masked man / old man Sith - a younger human is the way to go.

 

Maybe all of the EU characters will appear in a cameo and die horribly prolonged deaths? Kind of a dark demented Harlem Shake?

Depends on the kind of villain.

Its like the Lex Luthor stuff thats out there now. Brian Cranston would be a great Lex Luthor, but so would Mark Strong, they would just play the character differently.

 

i'm still wondering if EU will continue as a separate universe along side the new movies, since Sword of the Jedi and the following duology are still planned to be released right before, if not at the same time as Ep 7. I can't see them releasing some books, only to render them all invalid a mont or two later.
