Uh... sorry about the double posting, but there was an editing problem with my last message, that last part is me, not fett 4.

No probs- though it should be possible to fix.

Han does quite a bit. He saves Lando. He (accidentally) takes out Boba Fett. He comes up with the idea (masquerading as an AT-ST that gets the Imperials to open the back door again, that allows them to blow up the shield). And when he says "I won't get in the way"- that moment of real unselfishness shows he's finally willing to put Leia's happiness before his own.

Well, thank you all for your contributions. The general consensus seems to be for Stover, and since I've seen a few tips of the hat to a Yoda novel - I think I'll try that one. (Yoda's my favorite character, if I can't like a book about my favorite character by an author you guys say is the best, I will officially give up hope.) There are quite a few books on my list, but I may get this one done before Christmas. I'll post my thoughts here when I'm done, so if it's something you care about, go ahead and subscribe to the thread so that you don't have to check back for it. Thanks again!

I haven't read Yoda: Dark Rendezvous either, but I've seen almost universal praise for it here in Lit, so, I can't say I fault you the choice. Heck, I might even pick it up at some point and read it in the midst of the series I'm trying to slog through.

He did Hero's Trial though and didn't update it. We talked about Vergere in the thread! SHE AIN'T IN RUIN!

This thread makes me feel uncomfortable about the unread copy of Fatal Alliance that I bought for when it looked like the 181st might talk about it in January 2012 that's still sitting on my shelf.

    Also, Traitor.

I liked Fatal Alliance, mostly because of Eldon Ax. I've got a couple of books to go before Traitor.

The correct answer is Dark Rendezvous.

Fatal Alliance was a fun read imo. Really enjoyable. Traitor is really amazing but controversial. A couple read throughs are needed.

I think Traitor is a must read for every Star Wars fan. Fatal Alliance, many didn't like (Though that seems to be true for the Old Republic series of novels in general) but I actually thought it was quite good. Each character introduced and focused upon was interesting enough to hold their own standalone in my opinion.

How many threads have been derailed the past year because of Traitor? Several threads about Traitor isn't it?

Any NJO, LOTF, FOTJ (possibly), any post NJO revamp thread that I can remember from the past year brings Vergere and Traitor up. Controversial.

Yet that controversy derives from the retcon laden nature of LOTF/FOTJ. And an NJO thread is naturally going to bring up Traitor.

    Truer words.

Anyway, Traitor is great and everything, and could maybe possibly hypothetically be as good as or better than YDR, but in terms of someone's first EU book? Someone who's been wary of the EU historically? There's no comparison.

I think we've lost perspective on the importance of continuity to non-EU readers versus quality.

Touché. But that doesn't mean YDR isn't better. :p
