In order of air date (hard to separate my Top 10):

    1. Witches of the Mist
    2. Darkness on Umbara
    3. Plan of Dissent
    4. Escape from Kadavo
    5. A Friend in Need
    6. Massacre
    7. Revenge
    8. A Necessary Bond
    9. The Lawless
    10. The Jedi Who Knew Too Much

Replaced "Wookiee Hunt" with "The Jedi Who Knew Too Much". Essentially, I've swapped one strong Ahsoka-centric episode for another. It was difficult to choose an episode to drop, but I refuse to have these "honourable mentions". This is a Top 10 damnit, not a Top 30!

This makes Witches the only surviving Season 3 episode! Odd, as I consider Season 3 a much stronger season than Season 5. I guess Season 5 is a season of extremes - when it's great, it's really great, but when it's bad, it's really bad.

Seems like the right point in time to do this, having now caught up with the series finale. I never kept track of them, but here are the ones that were particularly memorable for me:

    Lair of Grievous
    Hostage Crisis
    Landing at Point Rain
    Brain Invaders
    Lightsaber Lost
    The Zillo Beast Strikes Back
    Clone Cadets
    Witches of the Mist
    The Box
    Shades of Reason
    The Lawless
    To Catch a Jedi
    The Wrong Jedi

Not a Top 10 obviously, and I may misremember some of the episodes (or miss a few that would deserve a mention), but these were the ones that really stood out from the pack. Looking back over these, it is somewhat sad to see the show go, but then, if you realize that seasons 4 and 5 would have almost no presence on this list if not for the truly excellent final two arcs, it was probably the right moment to end it.

The Lawless, and to a second extent the whole Shadow Conspiracy arc. That was classic Star Wars, Dave and crew really nailed it.

No, there are a fair few individuals who despise Mortis.

The majority seem to like it, but this is a SW forum, that's to be expected.

The way I see it, Mortis was a philosophical arc and not everything was meant to be taken literally, but metaphorically. Yeah, I know, it's weird, but I think that's the way to watch the arc.

Agreed. Filoni even described it as one long Dagobah cave vision. Now, people don't go around complaining that the real Darth Vader fought Luke on Dagobah and turned out to be Luke's twin so Darth Vader appearing later is bad writing, do they? Taking everything literally detracts from it.

anakinfansince1983 I find it interesting that you like Destroy Malevolence the best in that arc. To me, it has its campy pulp charm, but the first two episodes are a lot more solid. Do you just like the camp or is it something else?

I just looked back at my reviews and I actually rated Rising Malevolence higher because of the droid "humor" in Destroy Malevolence and Ahsoka's constant chatter in Shadows of Malevolence. I rated Rising Malevolence a 9/10 and the other two episodes 8/10. So Rising Malevolence probably should have been the one on my list.

I really liked the Anakin/Padme interaction in Destroy Malevolence; I watched season 1 before I ever saw the movie, and "Oh, the things you do to get me alone..." "Stop. Talking." got me hooked on the show. Although I did have the thought that "I can't imagine Hayden Christensen delivering that line and who is this Anakin?" :p

My reaction was very similar when I first saw Destroy Malevolence, and I also hadn't seen TCW film yet. I know I've railed against the over-use and abuse of this word, but if any TCW episode plot deserves to be described as contrived, it's probably Destroy Malevolence. Everything falls into place not just a little too neatly, it's a lot too neatly. But that's what gives it the campy pulp charm. Hooray for episode diversity. [face_dancing]
