    After TCW completely overdid it...

    The Imperial March.

Nothing really comes to mind. Nothing worth entertaining, anyway.

It flows naturally. And it takes your breath away.

I actually would mind if Rebels got an intro with accompanying animation rather that just the crawl of the title. I would like a good cinematic orchestra. Not expecting John Williams but something along the line of Kiner in season 4 and 5 or like Transformers Prime has. Both are miles above the scores I've heard in other animated shows as of late. If only Kaoru Wada or Akira Senju would work on a series like this.

Or Shiro Sagisu for that matter (oh, and a proper intro would be pretty cool).

There's even a precedent for that--the "Droids" theme song was performed by Stewart Copeland from The Police, who were about the biggest band in the world at the time.

    AND IT'S ALWAYS EXCITING!

The lyrics are total nonsense, but I love it anyway. I've spent way too much time at my brother's house, schooling my nieces on how to do a proper Ooh-La-La.

If it's background music, i.e. not something the characters hear but only us the audience - only the stuff resembling John Willaims' work will do. Nothing recognizable from our universe, nothing contemporary. There are only a handful of directors who can get away with putting recognizable contemporary music in period pieces, but in 90% of cases it ruins the movie for me completely.

If it's something the characters hear, that is happening in their cantina for example, then you can have more freedom. But it still needs to feel otherworldly, no rapping or whatever is popular these days.

Thrash metal with orchestrations by John Williams during battle scenes.

Edit: I would like to hear this.

I liked it when guitar showed up during the speeder chase on Coruscant in AOTC, so anything is possible. Just as long as it stays "In Universe".

Wouldn't want to see Justin Bieber show up as Jugo Bebo and play one of his songs at Coruscant High's Senior Prom.

Actually, nothing that sounds like pop/rock at all - unless it's composed by Yoko Kanno, in which case I approve.

I propose that Kylie Minogue's 'Light Years' is the only song played ever.

THIS. Sagisu is the master. I adored his work in Nadia and NGE especially.

Thrash metal reminds me of an old boyfriend. That is all.

And I'm just going to leave this here. I could actually see this in an episode of TCW.

There is some very good metal that makes awesome military pump up music.

There is even some emotive metal.

Amon Amarth is one band that writes / plays excellent last-stand type stuff. Here's three of their good ones:

Mogwai actually has a song called Star Wars (just as a nonsequitur). Oddly, it does have a cadence that fits the mood of the saga.
