Ha that was old news. Then I met another girl which turned into a text-based relationship until we hung out the first week back for college. That ended September 1st.

And I do look people in the eyes periodically, or try to. It's not something I tend to do naturally, mostly because I've never really thought of it as important; I always placed much more emphasis on speech, such as word choice and especially tone of voice and inflection, and occasionally gestures as supplements. So the eye contact thing has been something I've been more forced to incorporate into my interactions over time. Because of this when I do make eye contact 99% of the time I'm consciously making the decision to do so, generally because I'm currently thinking "Oh, I should make more eye contact because I haven't in a little while." It's done entirely for the benefit of others, as people's eyes will tell me little.

 

I try to look people in the eyes unless there is a big height gap between us.
And can I just say that its disconcerting to look someone in the eyes who has sunglasses on?

Eye contact always makes me uncomfortable, like I'm being scrutinised. I will look at people's eyes from time to time to show I am making eye contact, but not all the time. I find it better to look at people's noses instead if I am continuously looking at them.
