TV Discussion The Relationship of Anakin and Ahsoka

This is just getting annoying. I'm not blaming you exactly, I've seen it from a bunch of posters. It's making me curious. Is this something that iphones automatically stick into posts when you post on a forum, and you can't do anything about it?

I've posted on this board from my PC (a fullsize desktop dell machine), ipad (over both wifi and cellular data) and phone (formerly a samsung Galaxy S, now a Galaxy S4) and I've never had any of them spontaneously shill themselves at the end of every post.

Anyhoo...

Moving on... one thing I didn't like about the slaver arc was how the TCW crew seemed to redesign the Togruta. They gave all the males large, unwieldy, and often forward-pointed montrals that would really get in the way of a lot of things. Like putting your face up against a window for example. They also gave the males short lekku.

I much prefer the TOR Togruta where both males and females have similar horns and headtails. Gender is still easily differentiated by face and body shape.

I don't know if the TCW male Togruta appearance counts as a complete retcon... it could always be that the Kirosans were a particular ethnic group, and that other male Togruta (or even most of them) have the backswept montrals and long lekku like the females (or the TOR males).

 

Good points. It seemed to me that the old Togruta in the episode was supposed to have different proportions, not indicative of gender (since we know they get longer on top with age), but then it seems like they worked backward from that model to make the other average-age males.

 

anakinfansince1983 Ah see tapatalk is the culprit. If I'd thought harder about what that line actually says I'd have probably realized it was something to do with it. I've never used it so I'm not familiar with what it is or how it works. I can post straight from the browser on my phone, so I just use that.

 

Well, I've now heard worse: Lots of talk on Twitter after last night's episode of Once Upon A Time about people who are busy "shipping" Henry and Peter Pan.

I think that'd be true if that was the only way she was ever portrayed, but there are numerous examples that highlight her flaws.

I really don't understand how one could take away from Escape From Kadavo that Ahsoka single-handlely saved the day. There was a lot more than that going on, like a Republic fleet coming into the picture.

 

I feel like there are plenty of times Anakin saved the day, sometimes single handed as it probably should have been. Never at any point did I feel Ahsoka surpassed him as the hero TCW was building him up to be. So he could really fall... Ahsoka didn't to the best job holding him back either.

 

It'd be interesting to see Ahsoka trying to find out what happened to Anakin after the fall of the Jedi

 

I kinda wonder what kind of shape Ahsoka would be in after 7 years of darkness. How much regret will she carry?

 

I would think the answer to that depends on whether she finds out who Vader is or not.

 

Certainly knowing who Vader is would give her a direct means to blame herself. But I think knowing all her Jedi friends were dying and surviving perhaps by not being a Jedi would be enough to cause remorse. Ahsoka's fate may turn out to be worse than death.

 

I'd imagine it would cause some remorse, especially if she thought Anakin was dead. And while there were certainly other much larger factors involved, Ahsoka finding out about Anakin's turn and blaming herself could lead to some interesting character development, if handled by someone other than Filoni. I certainly can see her fate being worse than death.

 

A supervising director for Rebels has yet to be named. So far we only know who the producers are. And Filoni was perfectly willing to portray Ahsoka as a moron in the final arc.

 

I'd like her to still be technically on the "light side" as far as Force-alignment goes, but to be a heavily grimdarkened person nonetheless. A major dose of Han Solo's fatalism and bitter sarcastic streak. She still tries to do more-or-less good, but is a lot more mercenary in how she goes about it. Quick to judge who's a bad guy and if she's got into a situation and figures you're the bad guy in it, she'll just waste ya. Bang bang bye bye. An extreme combat pragmatist who dosn't fight much like a Jedi anymore, more like a Mando.

As for remorse... well, if she survives long enough, if she survives until the time of ANH to be precise, imagine what she's gonna feel like when news of Alderaan reaches her. Actually, being a Jedi herself she would probably sense the whole million-of-voices thing as Obi-Wan did, but wouldn't know so soon what it was. But eventually the news reaches her, wherever she is... The absolute kick in the teeth for Ahsoka would be the news of who was in charge of that operation. Grand Moff Tarkin. A man whose very existence is owed to Ahsoka. Years before on Lola Sayu, she saved his life when Osi Sobeck was about to send him lava swimming. Saved his life so that he could go on, to the present, to sign the death warrant of an entire world, and consign billions of innocents to oblivion. I imagine the guilt of that knowledge would be crushing to Ahsoka.

 

Heh, this has always been a bit o' headcanon of mine:

 

I like that one of her montrals has parted company with her somewhere along the line in that artwork. It gives her a real been-through-it hardass look. I wonder if those things grow back.

Speaking of montrals, if Rebels is set around 10bby, Ahsoka's should be fully developed 10 - 12 inch spikes o' death by that point. I'd love to see some fool attempt to grab her from behind in a bear hug type hold, and just get gored for his trouble. Preferably in the eye. And then she telekinetically removes the eyeball from her horn tip, drops it on the ground, and stomps on it. Yee haw!

I never disliked her in later seasons, but I liked her a whole lot better when she was the smart-ass sidekick in the earlier seasons..

 

I found Ahsoka quite annoying in TCW film and the early seasons, but when she got a little less over-the-top cocky in later seasons I was able to at least tolerate her.

 

I watched Lightsaber Lost again recently. I'd forgotten just how aggressive she got with that little Italian-accented alien. First of all gratuitously ripping the door of his room off its hinges with the Force (I'm sure the hostel owner loved that) and then threatening to beat him up with drawn back fist (prompting Sinube to exclaim and rein her in), and finally Force-slamming him against the wall.

Then there was the bad cop routine vs Nute Gunray. Threatening that creep with disembowelment, I loved it. I wish they'd showed more of that side of her in the later seasons, but it didn't happen so much.

 

Chalk it up to lazy artwork from a dude who draws more porn than quality.
