I think that idea has a lot of potential. The Emperor might think that if Darth Vader were to encounter Ahsoka it'd be one of the few things that stood a chance of turning him back into Anakin Skywalker.

 

He's going to make him a chef for the school Hot Lunch program. You know how those kids love Zabraki cuisine.

 

It'd be awesome if Sidious' plan was to basically make Maul wash his cloaks for all eternity.

 

Joking aside, is the Maulkiller hybrid clone canon? That, ultimately could count. Though MK was Vader's project...

Darth Vader made a hybrid clone from the DNA of Darth Maul and Starkiller. In TFU 2.

I'm predicting another but even bigger Clone Wars film, where Maul, Ventress, Ahsoka, Talzin and the rest of them will all meet their fates.

Yes, I'm hoping.

I think Maul's biggest weakness is that he lacked patience, which is probably another reason why he had his lost mind during his exile — the burning desire to get revenge and the inability to act because of his injuries. If he had waited in the shadows for the right moment to strike while he trained his brother to be as good as him, then I'm sure he would have become a full master of the dark side and be as big a threat as Sidious was.

That being said, I still think he can be redeemed as the awesome villain we think he is — if they ever bother to do it, that is. Enter Ahsoka, the departed Jedi and potential Sith apprentice that Maul might try to find and bring to his side. It could be interesting, if done right, and make the end of the Clone Wars even more exciting.

 

That's for sure. The TPM novelization says that Maul lacks Sidious's patience as it talks about how impatience doomed the Ruinite Sith and helped Darth Bane.

Anyway, Sidious's "other uses" might include using Maul against Talzin.

 

That has incredible potential, including a fitting death for Darth Maul at Talzin's hands.

 

I wonder if Sidious ordered Dooku to kill Ventress in order to set in motion his plan to capture Maul alive.

 

Unlikely.

 

I don't think Sidious knew Maul was alive and when he did find out, it clearly suited to have him running amok around the galaxy until Maul got too bold which meant Sidious had to personally interfere.

 

The Inquisitor and Hidalgo's statements concern me on the matter of this thread.

 

The inquisitor isn't Maul. Maul is a Dathomirian Zabrak. The inquisitor is a Pau'an, from Utapau. Worry not.

Maul is still alive as far as we know, and Sidous had "other uses" for him. Worry not, again.

 

I don't think Maul will appear in Rebels (which is set 15 years after RoTS).

I assumed the phrase "I have other uses for you" meant Sidious would use Maul as a final test for Anakin; a means to see how powerful he is, etc.

 

Children of the Force seems like a precursor to the idea of Inquisitors. I don't think Maul figures into that at all. As I see no reason that Palpatine and Dooku or Vader couldn't handle that themselves. I figure Maul was meant to be used as a pawn either to attack Talzin, or to be used to remove Obi-Wan from the picture (and thus his influence over Anakin).

I figure the conclusion of Maul's story will be told eventually, but hopefully during the time frame of TCW. I'm not wild for the idea that he survived 15 years into the Imperial era.

 

I have a feeling he survived a lot farther than the Rebels era...
