Full Series Official Star Wars Rebels Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

I'd just like to say that TCW was only a cluster**** because they were trying to jam waaay too much into a 3 year period. Since Rebel's has 20 years tops, they have it much better.

l don't get why that has to be starred out. Fantastic Mr. Fox can say it.

 

They could have jammed even more into a 3 year period than they did, and have it not be a CF, if they had spread it around a bit, i.e. not focused on the same four-character brick (ObiAniRexOka) so much. You could believably have loads of different stuff and adventures going on, and because they involved different groups, it wouldn't matter, since much of it would be happening concurrently. But by focusing on the same people, these things all have to be going down consecutively. Resulting in these same characters having a preposterous number of disparate adventures crammed improbably nonstop right after each other.

What ever happened to long hard fought campaigns?

instead of multiple disconnected rapid-fire self-contained adventures, why didn't we get ObiAniRexOka and the GAR go in to a world and then get stuck in a brutal attrition war that dragged on for weeks or months? Instead we got lightning invasions that were over in a few hours.

That exchange is from twitter, and while the rumor isn't new, the quote from Pablo is new to me. Doesn't exactly confirm or deny, but it sounds like the jury is definitely out on that rumor.

 

Haha, I remember now, that movie made a point of substituting every swear word with "cuss".

 

I've always been on your side, don't get me wrong. But I still feel like TCW had way too much stuff in it that betrayed the title.

Yes the action packed Clone Wars! Packed with nonstop excitement, such as Jedi Field trips and Escort missions. And don't you kids love your politics and fairness? OF COURSE YOU DO OTHERWISE WE WOULDN'T HAVE SO MUCH OF IT!

Less of that, more "This is a War people!"

 

Regardless, Rebels has the potential to avoid many of TCW's pitfalls, and outside of those... I loved TCW, so I hope for more great things from this show.

Though I admit, the premise of a teenage starship cast isn't necessarily my ideal setup, it does make a reasonable amount of snese, and I've watched many an anime that actually work with this setup. There's potential so long as the characters are well written and the stakes are high. Given the era, throw in a sense of adventure, balanced out with a bit of grittiness with the brutality of the empire. I'm not asking for more 4 way Ashoka decapitations, but please don't let Disney tone it down to be less intense than what are now classic PG, (and in one case, PG-13) films.

Truly, I am far more interested in Rebels than I am in Episode VII. That may change, but I guess it's good I don't have to wait as long.

 

^That had me imagining even more neurotic 14 year old girls hogging the stage. The best space animes like Lost Universe, Cowboy Bebop, and Outlaw Star to name a few are awesome and don't involve all teenage casts. On the other hand Sentai is a Japanese creation and a number of animes have borrowed the formula. The setup rumored for Rebels is a dead ringer for Sentai. With that I'm again wondering if it'll turn out the Younglings will be the teens who are already a Sentai like team.

 

I hope the show is not absolutely saturated with stupid teen angst.

The Star Wars facebook page has posted: Star Wars Rebels have been sighted near the premier of Mighty Med! Tune in Monday at 8:30 ET/PT on Disney XD for a special fly-by.

 

What could that mean? A promotional clip maybe? Could they be that far ahead in the animation that we'd see a short trailer or something?

 

Wonderful, they are gonna force me to watch crap on DXD to see a flyby. Ehhh... I'll do it.

 

I don't think they have even got any of the cast yet so that seems unlikely that they have even got to the animation stage.

 

It'll maybe be the Ghost doing some airshow maneuvers past the "camera" to get us a first look at it or something?

DVR is set for Monday night. My daughter (11) asked if we could just fast forward to the clip because she doesn't want to watch the other "lame" show.

 

Dave Filoni will not be remotely perturbed by this action. All you will have achieved is the destruction of your own TV.

 

I'm sure it'll be online very shortly after it airs, whether it goes up on Youtube or TOS. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/tvnews.php?id=109751]ComingSoon.net[/url] says that it's a teaser so I'm expecting a 30 second commercial with just the briefest of actual footage from the show along with the logo and "COMING FALL 2014" at the end.

I'm also expecting this board to nitpick, ***** and moan about the littlest things we get from this.

 

At least they would be nitpicking something Rebels related. There hasn't been any Rebels news to talk about in a long time. It will be nice to get something to talk about, good or bad.
